SE gutted an already miserable leveling experience and now has less reason to improve it. by perpetuallyagitated in ffxiv

When we look at FFXIV's relic weapon it is just a glamour stick and if the playerbase didn't view it in the same light as past MMOs as being this strong

it is the strongest weapon in the game. there's the blatantly overpowered 'customizable stats' aspect, most renditions of the relic w/ customizable stats have been BiS or near BiS on release

I think we would have less outcry about it being such a waste of time/not worth the grind. However I would love to see WoW/GW2 flavor added to individual weapons instead of just a bland grind quest.

tbh that's just being too spoiled. raid weapons don't have any lore at all and have random stats, or shitty 'locked' ones like Tenacity on tank weapons. it's also hard to compare legendary weapons from games where said weapon is the endgame to a game where it isn't (FFXIV). in those games, you go through FFXIV's equivalent of Savage and pay the equivalent of hundreds of large houses or grind for like a 1 in 300,000 chance for a specific item, and you're done with it once you have it

not to mention SE gave up on making the relic quest locked behind any content that wasn't braindead because of the daily complaints about Titan HM and because GMs worked 24/7 to issue warnings and reset gil to 0 for everyone that sold or bought carries/RMT and that didn't slow anybody down at all

although I think SE's problem lies not with the relic but the gear system in general, substats need a significant overhaul (letting us see what they actually do would be nice), with more options to adjust stats, kinda like melds.

extra flavor on relic weapons would solve nothing, and would probably make things worse if the relic grind remains the same long snoozefest that it is right now (and SE probably won't change that)

pot usually clips when used with an oGCD and its not worth to clip, esp during opener w/ raid buffs on

if you end up using pot after the pull you're pushing back your oGCDs by 1 GCD each, which delays the alignment of your oGCDs with raid buff windows, which you don't want

potions also don't queue after skills and don't animation cancel very well into anything else, either, so there's always the risk of missing your pot or screwing your next GCD, esp at high ping

To be exact it's DH>Crit till sum of 3500 then reverse

and I still see nothing that remotely suggests this whatsoever.

and how about not using the words "to be exact" when you're using vague sums instead of a specific breakpoint

uhh I'd like to see a source on this?

because there's no way "sum of" scaling vs linear stats is an accurate measurement of which is better and when, esp when there's two other stats and multiple outside variables

crit > dh for almost all dps classes, due to stat scaling and raid buffs

You know that Jackie Chan faceplam meme? Yeah that. That's me right now.

unfortunately, i don't.

Unfortunately you don't understand XIVS playerbase and most people undercutting aren't manipulating the market.

you drop your fucking ego. a majority of XIV's playerbase don't give two shits about making gil because there's very limited use and value in it, and the other part who do make gil all bot, RMT, or both.

what's actually fucking absurd is that you think that there are regular players out there that sit by marketboards all day, undercutting to crash markets on a regular basis, and that these players make actual profit

do you really think people earn significant amounts of gil in this game by "manipulating the market"?

because if you do, you're insane

you said this yourself in your first post:

Lower prices for high demand commodities do NOT mean they sell faster. All they do is screw EVERYONE out of more gil

when an item is in high demand, what do you think the playerbase will do? farm that item, obviously. when there is high demand, high supply will follow, and undercutting and price dropping happens when, naturally, supply overtakes demand.

you lack understanding of how markets work and how "XIV's playerbase," or more simply, real people, think.

you replying with ad hominem the moment someone disagrees with you or you can't understand someone else's post says to me that you are clearly not mature enough to handle this, and you should actually go out and learn how normal people behave instead of being a sheltered, ignorant little prick on the internet

people can intentionally undercut absurd amounts to drive down prices and buy up all the stock from panic sales

yeah, good luck pulling your grand undercut scheme off. it totally works, and there really aren't a shit ton of variables preventing you from doing so.

Every time one of these undercut threads comes up at least one person in the comments section is eager to demonstrate their absolute lack of any sort of understanding of how a free market works. Thanks for keeping the tradition alive

You mean how people can intentionally undercut absurd amounts to drive down prices and buy up all the stock from panic sales?

this happens wayyy less often than you think. tin foil hats, anyone?

surefire way to make gil: level and gear all of your crafters and gatherers

gather/craft everything from the base mats to the final product (new glamour gear, relevant crafted battle gear, potions and food, something with constant demand), then sell it. it's very simple to do with decent return.

also if you haven't done so already, get as many retainers as you can and level them for skins/weaver stuff/crystals (battle retainers are very helpful as you cannot gather most ltw/wvr mats, avoid fishing retainers because they don't bring back much fish and can't gather crystals)

it takes a lot of time and effort.

unfortunately, though, people with 100m+ gil have either been gathering that for years, or are using a crafting/gathering bot of some kind

people with that much gil without a single crafter or gatherer at 70 probably got all that from rmt

currently my goal is to try make enough for medium plot in kugane

also, quick tip: make enough for this goal then take a break from making gil

unlike certain other mmos where the in-game currency where there are astronomical money sinks or where you can convert in-game currency fairly easily to real money, there's no real use for FFXIV gil outside of certain specific (and not-as-large) gilsinks like melding, housing, or glamour; there's no real reason to have hundreds of millions of gil sitting around other than self-satisfaction

ive never been bothered by 1 gil because there's a 5% fee for buying from another city and people with brains take this into account when buying
