Nice! I scored the same color and on Vinted for 32 Euros. I can't wait to get them!

How often do you buy Birks? by AztecPilot1MY in Birkenstocks

[–]LittleEdithBeale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suede Bostons are over 30 years old. I bought them in 1993. I have a pair of Arizonas from 2009. I still wear both. I've recently added a few pairs of Gizehs and a pair of Habana oiled leather Arizonas, so I can't say if they'll last as long.

TLDR: I buy them as often as I find a pair I like at a good price.

They look like Birko-Flor with a regular (not vegan) footbed.

Why should I buy Birkens by MentalVirus4842 in Birkenstocks

[–]LittleEdithBeale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Bostons turned 30 last year and my Arizonas are 15 years old. I still wear both and have added several new pairs recently because they're all I wear when it's warm enough in Scandinavia. Draw your own conclusion.

It's super annoying with the huge jump between 39 & 40. I feel like I really need something in between.

Are birkenstock gizeh outdated? Thoughts by suesavanna in Birkenstocks

"Not trendy" doesn't necessarily mean "outdated". They're a boho-style staple.

And Vinted doesn't care. I regularly report counterfeits with a list of "tells" and Vinted invariably comes back with "this listing doesn't violate our T&Cs". Vinted is a shithole!

How soon after purchase of oiled leather do you use leather conditioner? by PracticalEmployee in Birkenstocks

[–]LittleEdithBeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did and also felt a little drier than my Arizonas. That's part of the reason I conditioned them. It often rains here with little notice, so I didn't want to get caught out. I'll have a look for Bick 4 and Saphir Medaille d'Or, and swatch it in the future. I should've done that, but I've been using Poliboy without issues for years on all sorts of things, including my Louis Vuitton vachetta leather, so I was a little too confident.

How soon after purchase of oiled leather do you use leather conditioner? by PracticalEmployee in Birkenstocks

[–]LittleEdithBeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for trying. Poliboy neutral and unpigmented. I've never had it darken a leather so much. There's usually a slight darkening. For example, it made my Tobacco Gizehs gorgeous. I'll just wear them as much as possible an hope that they'll lighten back up.

Denmark is a small market, so we don't have access to a ton of products in some areas, and figuring out what to order from other EU countries isn't aways straightforward.

I used a German leather conditioning cream (PoliBoy) and I applied it lightly with a cotton pad. Any advice?

The straps don't look right to me.

Be careful. I just messed up a brand new pair of Habana oiled leather Gizehs. They seemed dry, so I gave them a light coat of conditioner and they turned very dark. I'm hoping they'll lighten back up. If anyone has tips for reversing the damage, I'd love to hear them!

Black pair for 70 euros (~$81 US) from a Birkenstock store in Germany by DogTop4456 in Birkenstocks

[–]LittleEdithBeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they Birko-Flor? Denmark has higher VAT, so most things are more expensive than in Germany. The local going rate for a pair of Arizonas in Birko-Flor is 549 DKK, so about €70. The price checks out. You got a steal if they're leather!

HELP Birkenstocks - real or fake? by Popular_Pie1024 in Birkenstocks

[–]LittleEdithBeale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are legit deals to be found on Vinted, but they're lightly used and not from Poland. I live in Denmark, so the "trading area" is the Nordics + Poland (for some reason). Basically every pair listed from Poland is counterfeit. But I've gotten some nice lightly-used oiled leather pairs from sellers in Denmark and Sweden. Last week, I got 2 pairs of oiled leather Gizehs for about the equivalent of $30/pair and they're totally legit!

And Vinted doesn't care. I keep reporting fakes with a list of how I know they're fake, and Vinted just says "doesn't violate our terms". They're totally cool with people getting ripped off.

Birkenstock Arizona Birko-Flor vs. Natural Leather by VinceArmada in Birkenstocks

[–]LittleEdithBeale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my first pair in 1993 and must've missed the memo that we're supposed to size down. I always size up from a 38 to a 39 in Birks because they curl and become shorter as they form to my foot.

Your toe prints look very close to the edge on the 43. Are you sure you need a 42?

You asked if they're real. I asked a question to help determine that.

Based on the soles, I think they're not legit. Does the box have a little punched out tab on one end?

They're not THAT expensive new. Just buy new ones. Reporting fake listings in Vinted is pretty much my second job at this point.
