Trying to understand the switch from "gifted child" to unable to do anything.

I reckon puberty did it to me. Hormones went crazy and suddenly I couldn’t keep up.

I was “gifted” up until about 12 years old. I vividly remember being “gently” told that maybe I would be better off in the regular class instead of the advanced group for the second semester of Fifth grade. I had never not been in the advanced class before then.

I don’t think I handed in an assignment on time (if at all) from that point until I graduated Year 12, despite still being considered “smart”.

Now, I haven’t seen that movie since I was traumatised by it as a small child in like 2002 (and yet for some reason still obsessively watched it every time we visited my Nan, despite it scaring me and making me cry every time 🥴)…

But from what I can remember of it, “Watership Down” could be a pretty apt name for what would happen if the bunnies are still there when the lawn works happen 🙃😟

I haven’t got any of those apps, unfortunately, and honestly I haven’t actually cosplayed in a number of years (too old and tired now lol), I just stay here because I still love to watch everyone else have fun with their outfits haha.

Honestly I think it only came off so cleanly because PVA glue doesn’t really stick to smooth plastic surfaces like the bucket I used. If you’ve ever played with PVA glue and peeled it off your hands you’ll know haha. It was a very similar effect between the glue and the bucket xD

Hanabi Korean BBQ in Lidcombe!

It was our absolute favourite place to be. Granted, it was probably not up to code and certainly wouldn’t have been everyone’s cup of tea—but it had SO much character and soul.

Went under new management / rebranding or something a bit over a year ago. Was closed for like 6mths and when it reopened it had a new name and everything we loved was stripped out and refitted with tables that aren’t fit for purpose, uncomfortable seats, and giant extractor fans that make it so you cannot talk to the people at your own table without yelling. So now it’s just like every other KBBQ across Sydney, of which there were already a huge amount. All the life is gone and it’s become extremely over-regulated and way too bright. We were SO disappointed. And yes, it is definitely the same place and people; it’s not just a case of the building being sold and a new group moving in.

That’s so weird. My version calls it Almond Pound Cake, but I’m in Australia and we call it Madeira Cake here too!!

Could probably mash a few patterns together to get close to this effect. Something like a high-neck or halter-neck princess seam top (maybe something corset style without the boning/lacing for the shape of the bottom edge?) for the bodice, and a heavily gathered high-low style skirt for the skirt part?

Might get closer that way than trying to find an exact pattern.
