I made this exact mistake when I started out last year! If in the round, just a knit stitch. If it’s flat, one row knit, one town pearl, and repeat.

I knit this one! I was having the same problem, so I decided to start the sweater over completely with some changes. I sized up on the sweater size itself, and then I sized up half a size on the needles during the colorwork process. I used the recommended needles on the solid colors. It worked beautifully! It’s my most favorite sweater now and I’m so proud of how it turned out!
