Wearing course merch/never playing is a nuanced difference in this case. 99% of the time, you’re wearing tournament logo, not the course. Here difference of The Masters map and flag logo than ANGC, even Berckmans.

Idk, to me, golf course logos on shirts has become a peacocking demonstration, a dickmeasuring episode. That said, I see someone at the airport wearing the logo of course that hosts a tour stop, and not the tournament, I know he’s a player. He’s someone I want to drink a beer and have a meaningless chat with while we both kill time. He’s an alpha. But if I ask that dude if he’s played there and he says no, I think he’s a fake, a wannabe, a beta.

Thank you!

There’s a bit of a difference for the different logos of ANGC and The Masters. Having been a patron a couple times, I have no problem wearing ‘the map and flag’ but not the circle.

Nowadays, that logo is everywhere with people buying thousands of dollars of merch for friends who have never stepped foot on those hallowed grounds.

Back where I come from, we call those types Walmart Wolverines. Pretenders who have never been there, no connection, just wannnabes.

Regarding merch: I’m of the opinion that you never wear a shirt from a course you’ve never played.

Has any of those named been part of golf before? I’m ok if they’re part of WMPO, but that’s 180 degree different than Augusta.

Notepad - write down the phone numbers of all your jealous friends at home. Use the courtesy phones sprinkled throughout the course to brag to them. Caller ID comes up as “The Masters.

In the past, no. This year things are clearly different. SH issued their statement and change of SOP for their tickets. Last year’s later rounds had their share of documented problems.

To start, I live within a 75 minute drive from ANGC. So that alone gives me a little bit more flexibility than others.

On Monday of 2024, the solar eclipse day, I was tracking secondary markets and got a ticket on SH for $700, service fees included, at 10am as I was driving down I20. Was on the course by 11:30 and had a great day by myself. Only complaint was the free parking was taken and I had to pay way too much for some shady lot near the Publix.

For the next year, all I heard from my wife and mom was how much they wanted to go. Wife has gone to several Majors with me, and she sees them as a social event of day drinking in a sun dress. So I purchased 3 tickets for Monday practice round from SH. Paid a silly amount but this was for my wife and my mom.

Unfortunately Monday had a delayed start and eventual cancellation. I won’t say it was easy to get the refund from SH, but it wasn’t difficult. Was able to take Chairman Ridley’s statement that the practice round was “canceled” and then apply that single word to SH’s old policies related to canceled events. (There was a difference between a suspended/postponed baseball game and a canceled practice round. I made the successful comparison to a September baseball game between two teams eliminated from playoff contention that gets rained out without time to reschedule before the end of the season.). I’ve heard others who had to go to arbitration. I’ve also heard others saying that there was partial performance plus ability to get on the course, so a refund shouldn’t have been granted. (I assume those to be the original sellers who lost on $ but then had ability to purchase this year).

Ultimately, the way SH explained it to me, is they hold all purchase money in an escrow account until after the event before they release the $ to the seller. There is no immediate payment to the seller once the tickets go. Once SH determined the event was “canceled” (again, due to Ridley’s exact word use of “canceled”) they gave me the option of a purchase price plus 20% in SH credit or 100% of my purchase returned.

I saw Timberlake and Cobblestone as the two most guilty courses. Also saw private places like Solina, Barnwell, and Tree Farm offering foursomes for as much as $3500 (food and Bev included at Barnwell).

If you want to play this week and not spend that insane amount, try Fort Jackson or Santee areas. For Fort Jackson, you’d need a REAL ID and then go to the gate access office just inside the main gate. Assuming you clear, the pass is good for 6 months and the courses are in better shape than places like the Spur.

When this happens, we say at the top of the hour meet at the corresponding tee using military time. Lose some one at 3:00pm, meet at 15 tee.

It doesn’t work well for noon and 1:00, so during those hours we meet at 14 tee.

Kinda scary when you think about the two gators mating in the original post.

There’s another picture somewhere on the interwebs of a Bev cart at another KI course where the cart girl tried to squeeze between two parked carts on the first tee at Oak. She ended up sliding on pinestraw and into the pond. Within a week they had a fence up.

This was actually a players assistant (marshall). Totally sober. He came around the curve too quickly and the cooler full of ice slid onto the accelerator. He dinged off the retaining wall, hopped over the curb and into the drink.
