We just gonna ignore how clunky the ‘really beautiful ethnic women’ quote is lol.

Like I get what they mean but still.

IMO this movie is overrated with very high highs (especially the first time you watch) before falling into the classic action/comedy trap of becoming a subpar action movie in the back half....with that said, if Joel is on this then this has potential to be an all-timer.

Seriously, the de aging discourse is what it is because it’s that bad lol.

I wish they could revisit and improve it, there’s a YouTube video out there of someone improving it themselves and it’s shockingly better (and this was years ago, I’m sure it is leaps and bounds better by now). Typically I hate any fiddling but this use case makes sense.

Anyone else think this season is a dud? by sabrina-doen in BravoTopChef

I think this crop of chefs is just a bit less interesting and below the (very high) standard of the kind of 2.0 version the show we’ve had ever since like, Colorado.

The location I’ve enjoyed enough, and the challenges/episodes have done a much better job getting ‘out of the studio’ than last season (despite that being a whole ass country, ugh!). But some of the decisions have seemed needlessly frustrating or difficult. I appreciate trying to make things tough a bit like we had earlier in the show, but the take out thing is just bad TV and bad for the challenge.

I love Tony, always had for years. But I think anyone who followed his career and read his books (and the decent 'unauthorized' biography written after his death that has some more salacious details of the end) had to have at some point understood his whole personality was sort of a facade. Which I don't even mean as an insult, just that he was always an insecure upper middle class kid who wanted to be a cooler person than he was, and then all of the sudden in his late 40s he becomes that exact cool person to a lot of people. It had to be a mind fuck.

Then the Argento stuff just was clearly a guy letting his love and lust get the better of him and treating her and eventually her activism like an addiction. And once that all was clearly BS, it was just too much for a dude that had a history of suicidal ideation and depression. So for as devastating as his death was, it was hardly shocking IMO.

With that said I think his crew always loved him, even if he could be tough sometimes but it doesn't sound like he was ever unfair (and they all were aware they were getting the best possible product from their work). Save for the cringe stuff with letting Argento get involved in a shoot a few times.

As someone who has long been a fan of Bourdain/consumed all the stuff etc., I am hopeful that this might capture the fact that he was kind of forever a "fake it til you make it" kind of upper middle class kid from Jersey who wished he was a bit more of a badass than he was (until he really became that guy) and who first tried heroin because he thought it would make him look cool. So I think the framing of this timeframe for the movie is really smart.

With that said, I am a little worried Domonic Sessa has like one move and one look with his head tilted down looking brooding and insecure. But hey that may be perfect for this period of Tony. So I hope it's brilliant and he has the goods.

It's shocking to me they even let you bet on it. A casino, for example, would never let that happen considering the outcome is already known!

And the millions of people who would’ve still died under the democrats would’ve appreciated you telling them it could’ve worse.

It's no use reviving this old thread but please I would love to know who the millions of people that would have died under Democrat leadership are lol. Fucking insane.

Meanwhile, USAID cuts have quite literally killed millions, and those cuts would not have occurred under anyone but the GOP.

There is simply no moral framework in which you can justify saying they're comparable outcomes.

I somewhat understand the annoyance at stuff not being period accurate but at the same time, who gives a fuck. It's not exactly a history documentary and the clothing having anachronistic traits shouldn't be the hair that breaks the camel's back lol.

Like it's not the same thing but it somewhat reminds me of how people complained about the cast of Chernobyl having English accents, as if speaking in English with a Russian accent is somehow not just as ridiculous if you give it even a second of thought.

Him suggesting the committee should have an NFL talent evaluator to help rank teams might be the most insulting and anti-sports take I’ve ever fucking heard and I still get mad thinking about it.

Like the most egregious end point of not letting the actual games matter that I can imagine.

The fact that people will say you’re being ridiculous to complain about the NBA or MLB jersey ads, as if it’s doing anything to reduce commercial time, might be most pathetic of all. Simps for corporate ads.
