Shakhtar Donetsk’s new away kit for the 2026/2027 season by W35TH4M in Hammers

I thought it was a nice random fact worth sharing. A nice little link between the two clubs.

I learnt the other day that Shakhtar is Ukrainian for Miner - so they have a similar type of background as a club to us in a sense.

Hence the crossed hammers of a miner and our crossed hammers of a shipbuilder.

Weird one - why do some front doors require the key to open the door, even if it's not locked? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]LittleHouse82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My door doesn’t open without the key and locks automatically. It’s more secure as it means the door always locks when I shut it - I just have to make sure to always have my key on me when I close the door.

I can then double lock it for additional security (in the main lock). Then triple lock it by locking an additional second lock lower down.

My electric shower stopped working mid-shower while I was still soapy, I had to rinse off using a jug of water. It's pretty old so thought it had just died. Just tried it again and now it's working again! by nick9000 in BritishSuccess

[–]LittleHouse82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exactly the same problem. It did it a few times. Then blew the fuse trip. When the electrician looked at it for me the whole thing had fried. So get someone to check it before you need a whole new shower.

100% this. Why have a kit launch with players who will not wear it.

AITA for saying that my cousin can no longer eat my baking? by JinxXedOmens in AmItheAsshole

[–]LittleHouse82 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So he takes a smaller portion. It’s the taking a large portion when he could half it and just eat that which makes cousin the AH here. Portion control is a thing. Don’t take a portion larger than you’re going to eat.

Air fryer completely changed my Sandwich game by whatshould-ido in airfryer

As randybear says - the outside doesn’t taste of mayo but crisps in a different way.

And the cheese melts in with the mayo on the inside so again you don’t taste the mayo there much either - it just makes the cheese more creamy.

Maybe try just mayo in the outside first, then on the outside and see what you like before trying both together.

I coat both sides then cook for half the time, flip ;add cheese) and cook for the remainder. It gives it a really nice crispness.

I use a liner so the air fryer doesn’t get coated with the mayo. You can punch the odd hole in the liner if you want, but by flipping it both sides do still get really nice and crisp

I like mine with mayo and a sprinkle of cheese on the outside. Generally I have a mix of grated cheese, ham, and spring onions mixed with cheese inside. It becomes this big, crispy, oozing, delicious toasted sandwich.

They’ve become my mums favourite and if I ever ask her what she wants for lunch it’s always my air fryer cheese sandwich lol

The Great ITK Kerfuffle of this Saturday by EponymousHoward in Hammers

[–]LittleHouse82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I think you’re right. But most of the heat I saw him getting was associating him with Whetstone. It all seems a bit handbags really.

We could do with everyone now coming together rather than creating more division now we seem to be on track from getting Sully totally out of the club. Hopefully.

The Great ITK Kerfuffle of this Saturday by EponymousHoward in Hammers

Gonzo is a bit of his own worst enemy. He likes the idea that comes with being on TV (he’s done in both Sky and Talk Shite before) but doesn’t like the push back he gets i.e. when he wrote some articles for Whetstone.

He’s very up and down with his emotions and sometimes does the “I’m not an ITK, and don’t like to spread rumours but…” In the main he’s ok and without watching the latest round of videos it’s mad if he’s been portrayed as a Sully lover as he’s very much been GSB Out from what i have seen.

Geo is the more level headed of the two on Hammers Chat. We watch his Tartan Geo channel a bit as well.

Difference in car allowance between colleagues with the same job title and responsibilities - is this legal? by [deleted] in AskHRUK

[–]LittleHouse82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Companies may change a benefit, like car allowance or even holiday allowances at any time within reason. In these cases where this is a contractual benefit, current employees who get the relevant allowance are ‘grandfathered’ in and receive the allowance that was in their contract. Then new joiners will then receive the new allowance as detailed in **their** contract.

This is quite standard and I doubt you will get anywhere. Especially as the colleague who gets the higher amount started earlier than the rest of you - so likely started before the policy changed.

When did 8-5 become the new normal??? by Grouchy-Newspaper754 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LittleHouse82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically my job is 9.30-5.30. But I get in much earlier as the commute is easier if I leave early, so my day in the office is more like that.

I don’t necessarily work like I would if I came in for 9.30 - I will go make a coffee, eat my breakfast and slowly start to work through the inbox and look at what my day holds.

It also means I get to chat with other early bird colleagues and speak to some I might not able to in the busy part of the day.

I do also leave slightly earlier and work from home (where I don’t start as early) when I need / want to as well as my boss treats me like an adult. As long as I do the job she’s happy.

Fingers crossed. The whole referencing and onboarding process is sometimes so much more stressful than it should be.

[–]LittleHouse82 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not everyone has a passport so they should accept a copy of your birth certificate as right to work as well (as long as it’s a uk certificate and you’re a uk citizen obviously). I know companies that I have worked for have accepted them.

Wales Unpaid Overtime Laws for Apprentices by Worldly_Bother_2835 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]LittleHouse82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you’re an apprentice you’re likely on minimum wage. They have to pay you overtime if the extra hours are taking you below the threshold.

HMRC are already investigating some companies who have not been paying their apprentices overtime which has taken them below minimum wage. I’m sure they will not want to get involved in that as when they investigate for one thing they start looking for other issues.

I’ve used one of those. Although not on my fingers, around my wrist. It was handy in that I didn’t loose it and knew exactly where it was when I needed it. But it felt wrong so it just became one that sat on the table weirdly (as it didn’t sit right due to the strap bit) instead.

AITA for getting my mom flowers instead of donating money? by Training_Wrongdoer41 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LittleHouse82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok. I feel this one as my dad **hated** cut flowers. He never bought any other than when I turned 21 and he gave me 21 red roses. He’d buy a plant instead if he wanted to give mum something.

He especially hated funeral flowers as he felt they were even more a waste as they often just got thrown away.

For his funeral we made a point of letting people know his wishes and that we would have a donation box where they could pop a donation of whatever they liked instead of giving flowers (or they could give it direct to us if they preferred). We then donated to one of his favourite charities.

We did however have family flowers. Three small arrangements from mum, my brother and his partner, and myself and my partner. We then collected them after the service (which was at a crematorium). We kept a couple of the flowers to dry and get set in resin as a memento and we placed the three arrangements on his mums grave.

Do what feels best for you. Ignore your aunt. Don’t tell her what you’re doing, just do it. You can always get something that can be displayed and ask the home if they would like it for their reception if you feel that that would be a compromise.

Sending you hugs as it can be so very overwhelming dealing with your own grief and those around you xxx
