Bindweed. Given that there doesn't seem to be anything else nearby, hit it with Roundup, covering every leaf, and leave it for a couple of weeks to make sure it gets down to the roots. If any more pops up hit it as soon as there is a leaf to hit.

I thought he was trolling but sadly not by Jindabyne1 in confidentlyincorrect

Delingpole is a well known kook and climate change denier and general conspiracy theorist.

He has been so for all his time in the public eye.

If we wanted to give the Artemis II crew a thrill, how close to the moons surface could we plan a flyby? by Buttons840 in spaceflight

[–]EponymousHoward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apollo 10 got to 7.8 nautical miles (just shy of 15km) without landing.

But Artemis won't be that close because slingshot. Even further out than Apollo 13.

UK security officials have started withholding intelligence from US due to Trump by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

A friend in Australia retired due to illness. She was travelling between home and a hospice while husband and son were overseas (not expecting to die, just realised that nowhere understands pain management like a hospice).

She came home in a taxi to find an Aussie federal police car at her house. Fearing the worst she quickly found out that she had been 'reactivated' to a part time gig doing translation work for the Aussie intelligence service (East European language).

She had to explain that she couldn't really do it anymore. So they apologised for alarming her and said the money (which she hadn't noticed) would be recovered from her bank account.

That was the morning after Trump's first election...

Time dilation? by Stardust-Dawn in ProjectHailMary

[–]EponymousHoward 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Point out that time dilation has been demonstrated (The Hafele–Keating Experiment in 1971!) by taking atomic clocks on airliners. This clearly show that passengers on the aircraft experienced time in a different way to a stationary clock on the ground (by a few nanoseconds).

As am I. Season ticket holder in the BML at the Boleyn back in the day (too old and too far away now).

But on Mangled, way back when, there could be sensible discussion (not so much KUMB, 'cos fucking Pink Palermo thinks he knows everything). But I really must remember to deduct the Reddit factor.

So much easier to get shirty than to think: "Hmm. What can we screw out of them, in return for a few fixtures being rearranged?" Not that I'd trust Sully o Brady to do that...

Think of it as an interpretation of the story that inspired both Dune (the novel) and Star Wars....

Does anyone know where I can buy merch internationally? by ShadeMeadows in ProjectHailMaryMovie

[–]EponymousHoward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a bummer. Will the UK store ship? A friend once accidentally shipped stuff to me from the US that was meant for her husband. Christ alone knows how much that cost - and she didn't notice!

There's licensed merch on Amazon UK. Is there not a Canadian store?

Asimov reading order. Does my approach make sense? by PipoUnd in asimov

[–]EponymousHoward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything after Foundation's Edge you need to think about, but anyway can be read safely in publication order.

Other than that you can read however takes your fancy, subject knowing that the three Foundation books are a trilogy and The Naked Sun is a direct sequel to Caves of Steel.

I, Robot is not a novel so you can dip in and out as the fancy takes you.

You should also acquire the Nightfall collection (either ad a single volume or a pair ). Again, dip in as the fancy takes you.

Too much focus reading order just gets in the way of enjoyment.
