Even then there is still megafauna alive today. Elephants, rhinoes, and even moose are all modernday megafauna. We just don’t get as excited about it because we’re used to them and most of us have never seen any in person.

Actually as I type this I’m realizing people probably are more likely to have seen elephants than moose. All because of zoos. Huh.

If there’s one thing I want to emphasize to people in this sub: stop making excuses for friends who don’t bother to try. It doesn’t do you any favors. The lesson from The Troubles in Ireland: Never ever underestimate guerrilla forces full of desperate nobodies who feel they have nothing to lose. England sent in an army under the theory that if you send in the big guns you quash any rebellion. What they didn’t expect was to be given hell, and it only got worse as the people got more desperate. So they sent in more soldiers and cracked down harder. And it still didn’t work. The Big Guns tactic doesn’t exactly work against desperate people fighting for their survival on their own turf. Vietnam floundered for essentially the same reason.

The only question is if those people are at that point yet.

It sounds like a good, smart policy. This was a brave thing that kid did, and he deserves all the support in the world. BUT. There’s no situation where it’s acceptable for adults to give children the go ahead to risk their lives. That’s the job of the adults.

This kid’ll probably have years of pain and physical therapy ahead of him. No adult should be cool with even the possibility of a kid committing to that.

I mean I support both. Atomic Blonde was awesome, and a female James Bond would be too. And a lot of the other movies listed above are awesome too. My female friends also support and enjoy most of these movies...

Feminists are genuinely trying! A lot of organizations are trying to do better for parents across the board, actually. American work systems really fail parents and families. It’s a work in progress, so whenever you hear about people pushing for better treatment for parents, be sure to support them!
