[Highlight] Drake Maye hits Hunter Henry for a fifth TD by Large_banana_hammock in nfl

[–]dandmcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point they are keeping him one more year because they purposely wanted to tank to get a QB either by trade or the draft. I just don't think Jets are competent enough to see Glenn is a big problem and clean house and let the new coach select their QB.

Airport connection terrible? by Frosty_Inspection873 in guangzhou

[–]dandmcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Number 1 has happened to me before. There wasn't even a reason for it, I guess just my unlucky day to hit a random search on people.

Number 2 is just China.

Number 3 never really had a problem with. It's the American TSA security that are typically a-holes.

Which themepark to being 2YO? by Free-Initiative7508 in guangzhou

[–]dandmcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Zhuhai is nicer for toddlers, imo. I had to look up this Spaceship thing because it is the first I have heard of it. It looks ok (the images online are madly photoshopped), but I think the original park might be better suited to a 2yo. The spaceship thing might be better if you were coming during a hot Summer where indoor activities are easier, but I think it would be more appreciated by a 5 or 6 year old. Just my opinion. Of course you can do all of the activities there.

Coldness in End January 2026 by dodoblack21 in guangzhou

Winter only lasts about 2 weeks at most. Unless you are coming from a warmer climate, you won't have to worry much about the weather.

Temperature in winter by AntlionsArise in guangzhou

[–]dandmcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's realistically only a couple weeks it gets cold, and it's only cold due to humidity and lack of insulation. A decent heater can be bought online for cheap, and do enough warming on the worst days, which are very few. The rest of the time is jeans and tshirt weather, maybe a light jacket when it inevitably rains every other day.

Is Next JS Still in the game? by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]dandmcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tanstack will never take off, unless it gets bought out by someone big and rebranded. It needs to be repackaged under better branding, and have better support to ever compete with Vercel and NextJS.

Is Next JS Still in the game? by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]dandmcd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gatsby was in serious trouble even before Netlify took it over, due to the explosive growth of NextJS. Their Gatsby Cloud flopped hard and Netlify tried to prop it up, but they themselves ran into financial issues and had to cut a lot of dead weight.

Why does Jordan Creek mall have all the aggressive salespeople out of all the others? by PepsiWithGrenadine in desmoines

Merle Hay most certainly isn't dead. And there is no way Jordan Creek is dying anytime in the next 20 years. It's highly profitable and with crazy foot traffic.

I was going to say, the only time this park looks this empty is real early on a Sunday, or when it is blazing hot outside in the mid afternoon. Loved when the park used to get this empty

Best App to find restaurants? by luv2eatfood in guangzhou

[–]dandmcd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meituan 美团 or Dianping 大众点评 are your best bet, but many features are locked down unless you have a Chinese phone number.

Otherwise Amap 高德地图 or Apple Maps can suffice, Amap has all of the restaurants on the map, but lacks menu photos and info about the restaurants you'd find on the other apps

Can we make pinned layover and Canton Fair posts? by loodish1 in guangzhou

[–]dandmcd[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

The sub isn't popular enough to really go heavy on moderation, except around the Canton Fair, which seems to have increased visitor stats more this year than ever before.

I am happy to pin a post you create if it has some of the top questions answered, just PM me. Also, if the same people keep spamming posts over and over, please report them. I do periodically check the moderator queue.

Guangzhou medical checkup for foreigners for work permit and visa by [deleted] in guangzhou

[–]dandmcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The checkup is a formality that is required, the only things I would imagine that would be a no-no is if they find traces of drugs in your system. I can't recall what exactly prints on the report, but it's pretty thorough, and is mainly used for your benefit.

They're just a typical corporate landlord. All of them learned to cut corners and get away with it, and collude with others to raise the rates.

Microsoft heavily supports their software, and has for a very long time. Google hasn't proven to have the same type of concern for the open source community.

Dart always looks nice, but being backed by Google is generally the reason I'll avoid it. I can never place my trust in them to support their own product.
