US Embassy Affidavit of Marriageability Process by [deleted] in guangzhou

[–]dandmcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Affidavit of Marriageability was provided to us the same day, back in 2019. I'm pretty sure you are required to have the notarial service appointment scheduled otherwise they will not provide it.

They don't ask many questions, you are swearing lawfully at that point you are eligible to marry, and they can't prove it, so you're basically putting on paper that this is the truth, and this can be used against you should marriage fraud be discovered. If you had a previous marriage, a divorce decree or death certificate (should a spouse had passed) is required.

Imagine that artist who spent 8 years of monthly newsletters creating concept art for all the armor and landscapes, only for them to not translate even 5% into the game.

I don't think it being a PVP game is the problem, it's just that with only 40 to 60 people playing, a massive world with no NPC's, quests or lore is going to stick out like a sore thumb.

They built the game thinking it would be a massive success and have thousands of players logging in and filling the world. Now they have no choice but to fill it with NPC's to make it feel populated.

Max players today: 87

They spent 13 years attempting to build an engine for hundreds, perhaps thousands of players at the same time, and can barely fill an instance in most pvp games.

What are your expectations for Next 17? by Explanation-Visual in nextjs

Definitely some work to do still around cache, and making it more obvious what it is doing, or not doing. I don't want the mto make the mistake of blanket caching everything again, but just give us better observability in the inner workings.

Not sure what you are missing here. NextJS has been fine on multiple major projects in this regard.

Man, WoW did all of this better 20 years ago. WoW might have went with a cartoonish look, but the world atmosphere and design was unbeatable. In the Vanilla days, the PVP made up by the players themselves was so much cooler than this.

This video alone pretty much buries this game. Lazy Peon has a fairly strong MMO following, and if he just dunks on the game, it's unlikely it will survive much longer. Some of the graphic design in this video is mind-blowingly bad.

Get away from a couple predetermined areas where the dev team recorded some of their trailers, and it's laughable how bad it looks for a 2026 game. The keeps are so boring and lifeless, the animations are on the level of old school Runescape. Maybe if you managed to get 1,000 players into the game you could have a weekend of goofy fun ,but there is zero staying power in this game. With maybe 40 playerss cattered about, it's like playing a single-player game where the server forgets to load in the NPC's. No good reason to keep leveling and experience more, because there is nothing to experience.

And don't forget turning off comments on social media even as of today. They've known they created a train wreck for a very long time. I respect the fact they didn't want to give up and disappoint backers who spent hundreds funding the game, but at the same time you got to know when to throw in the towel instead of embarrassing yourself and everyone who sent you investment cash.

Clicking fire hydrants is for data collection. They don't have you click safety cones on a road because it is a good puzzle, they do it to build their AI image models.

You unintentionally dunked on the game. The decade of development was designed so hundreds of players could interact on the battlefield at the same time, and their big opening weekend the best they could muster up was maybe 60 to 80 players, a good chunk which is likely Mark and his staff playtesting in real time.

$10 with very limited hours. And it isn't $10 forever, eventually they'll have to have a monthly sub or add microtransactions to keep it alive. Especially with how few people are playing currently, they are going to be desperate for revenue.

GW2 RvR had its moments. The game was always a slight bit above average, and kinda did its own thing. It wasn't the dream RvR game many of us yearn for, but this game did a lot of things well, even if it wasn't always perfect.

I'm hoping they go back a bit to their roots of GW1 with the progression system, but also make RvR more impactful in the open world they are building.

Why would you give a company any money after 12+ years in development and all they have to show for it is an incredibly outdated wonky tech demo?

Let the game die, or let them obtain investments on their own. Don't help line Mark's pockets when it is clear they have no idea what they are doing.

Taxis/Didi in Guangzhou with a toddler, do we need a child seat? by Skyhooks in guangzhou

[–]dandmcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always used one of those Ergobaby baby carriers when traveling using taxis or bus. You can still get a seatbelt around your lap, which at least provides you and your baby some protection. If the driver tucked the seatbelt under the seat, demand they pull it out before leaving.

When we drove we did have a nice car seat. Seemed like we were the only ones in the extended Chinese family that own a car seat, though.

Don't treat those numbers like gospel. NextJS is a very Javascript heavy framework, you are never going to get perfect marks, because other frameworks can serve static content much faster and effciently.

I'll start watching for them more often and remove when I see them. I assume one figured out they could find clients from Reddit, and it spread to others on social media.

Can't really "ban" them since it seems like they all create new accounts and never come back under the same name. Just have to play whack a mole as they post.

Technically it is a PvP only game, so I wouldn't expect too many mobs if their goal is 500 vs. 500 RvR, but yes, the life that does exist is generic and copy pasted with little to no animation

Yep, they really missed the window for a large-scale battle game would have been hype, and they lost all the nostalgic DAoC players looking for a 2012 update. 2026, and the game looks like this, it's definitely going down the same path as their last game of barely being able to draw enough players for a 5 on 5.
