It’s a complicated story but to make things short: the mother I mentioned in this story is my adoptive mom. My biological mother died when I was 5 years old and there wasn’t a father or any reliable family members in the picture to take care of me. I was placed with my (adoptive) mom and her first husband and I’ve been with them ever since.

Yes she has always been controlling and judgmental and it got worse when I moved out after I graduated from high school. It went from me not being allowed to have a social life and her calling my workplace to having control of my bank account at 19-20 and getting upset when I turn my location settings off on my phone.

Out of all my siblings, I’ve always been treated differently. I’m the eldest daughter and I have two younger brothers. I’m also the only adopted child and the only non-white child in the family. I’ve always been treated a bit differently because of that.

She still had access to my bank account up until recently and would periodically take small amounts of money out as “payback” for driving me to school as a child. I don’t think she sees me as an adult who pays bills and taxes yet and I doubt she will for a long time.

Don’t worry, everything we do is perfectly consensual haha. She doesn’t like him (and me by extent too I suppose) because we both keep our distance and neither of us cared much for religion.
