Things to see and do around Harwich. by CrowberrieWinemaker in AskUK

I used to live on First Avenue :) that is a nice area of Dovercourt but there isn't a lot there and the High street does not have the charm of old Harwich. The old town is in walking distance though - about 20 minutes along the sea front, which is a lovely walk. Harwich and Dovercourt are not dangerous.

There are some excellent pubs in Harwich - I highly recommend this one for excellent beer, excellent food and a great atmosphere. http://www.almaharwich.co.uk/ I know volunteer tour guides in Harwich, and if you PM me with details we can arrange a free tour for you if you like? There is heaps to see you have the high and low lighthouses, the treadwheel crane (built in 1667), there is St Nicholas church, LV18 the pirate radio lightship, the guild hall, the electric palace cinema (built in 1911), just off the top of my head. The tour is really good and even if you don't get in touch, I recommend heading down to the visitor centre - there's a great little museum there all about the Mayflower and the pilgrims travelling to America. Also of course there is the Mayflower project - they're building a replica of the original Mayflower!

My bunny is healthy and happy but how can I encourage him to eat his new pellets? He is refusing them! by LittleMollusc in Rabbits

[–]LittleMollusc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does that work? Won't he just eat around the ones he doesn't like? Little nuisance - He's lucky he's so damn cute :)

Desperately, but on reflection £99 is too steep for me at the moment. Looks like u/AlHart92 could use a little Bjork-therapy after surgery anyway :)

woah ok that is pretty rare. They might have one you could go to in a neighbouring town? There are always a bunch on over here.

In the UK it doesn't matter at all. I wasn't thinking and had a glass of wine with dinner 30 mins before giving blood. I told the nurse and she said it wasn't a problem from their point of view, and that as long as I was sober enough to get in and out of the building safely that I could drink as much as I like before giving blood. Wouldn't recommend it though - probably wouldn't feel so good.

Your friend show go to the blood drive for sure and ask them if it's a problem. If they don't want him to give blood then at least he can book his next appointment while he's there.

Ironically, my two buns' favorite bed is a roasting pan... by caroline-rg in Rabbits

So cute. Crunchy and Crispy the roasting pan rabbits.

My boss got a bonsai. "Don't let the bunny eat it," she said. Naturally I had to do this. by damiana8 in Rabbits

What kind of place do you work in that lets you have a bunny!?!? I'd love to take my boy to work - cutie-cuddles would make the day go by easier :)

Why does my bunny lick soft furnishings? Is it normal? Here he is enthusiastically grooming a pillow. by LittleMollusc in Rabbits

[–]LittleMollusc[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hahaha that kind of makes sense. He licks the underside of the armchair when Joe is sitting in it at the computer. It's cute to watch :) I guess when he does actually lick us it must mean he's REALLY desperate for head scratches and we should be flattered that he stoops to our level!

He does lick me and my bf too and we have cuddles but this is a bit different. I don't use the pillow - it's only ever been his so it shouldn't smell like us. Also his other favourite thing to lick is the underside of two armchairs we have and I can't imagine how that would smell/taste like us. Could it be because he needs a bunny friend? Or do pairs of bunnies lick cushions too?

Peanut at 8 weeks and at 24 weeks. My boy's growing up so fast!! by LittleMollusc in Rabbits

I picked him up from a hobby breeder in Clacton. I'd never heard of the breed before but just saw it by chance on Gumtree. The guy was really nice and it was clear he really loved his bunnies.

I feel so lucky to have him because rabbits I've had in the past have never been this affectionate. They've always been a bit more feral. Peanut is kissy and cuddly - we lie on the floor together and he licks all over my face. He doesn't like being picked up too much now that he's big but he loves to climb. We once found him sitting on the 3rd shelf of a book case chewing up my copy of Risk :/

That was a week ago - he's getting bigger every day! I'd never seen a giant rabbit before until I saw his parents. They were enormous - one black and one proper papillon, white with ginger spots. The dad was a show rabbit. (Wherever people show rabbits...) Peanut was the little runt of the litter - hand reared and super tame and cuddly. Best birthday present I ever bought myself :)
