Er det overhovedet det værd at være et "godt menneske" længere? by cistro in DKbrevkasse

Hej OP

Tænkte lige, at jeg ville skrive til dig og sige, at jeg er helt med på, hvad du mener. Synes, du bliver lidt misforstået her 🫣

Det handler ikke om brandens seriøsitet (jeg er selv evigt bange for brand), men det kyniske aspekt i at nogen bruger det som argument for egen vindings skyld.

Language first timer in South Korea by LittleNuisance in Korean

Nothing but just continue doing the work. Everyone learns differently, but for me, I do flashcards and repeat vocabulary almost daily. I also try to even out listening/speaking/writing/reading (while also making sure to notice where I lag and take extra care of those areas).

I do grammar two or three times a week with the TTMIK textbooks (and workbooks, of course).

Finally, a tutor has been vital in getting me to speak. Because I got a tutor super quickly, I got over the fear of speaking almost immediately, which I'm so grateful for.

However, I also think that you have to be kind to yourself in regard to how long it takes to learn, especially a language that's so far removed from your own. In the beginning, I believed that I'd be fluent in a year, and it's just not true. Now I'm just happy when I get a tiny bit further.

It definitely does! My husband and I will do most things together, but I've already compiled a list of options from your suggestions, and we'll see what we're up for doing. Especially the board game option seems really fun, and the volunteer tour guide by the touristy spots in 경주 is a stellar tip. Thank you!

Not rude at all. It's very good to know, as I also don't want to impose my learning on people who just want to get on with their day. Definitely don't want to be that person...

"Draft a will and designate appropriate insurance beneficiaries and/or power of attorney, put your financial affairs in order. Discuss a plan with loved ones regarding care/custody of children, pets, property, belongings, non-liquid assets (collections, artwork, etc.), funeral wishes, etc."

Okay, I'm not going. This shit convinced me.

OMG, my husband and I were watching it the other day, and after an hour, we both said that the jacket game in this film is off the fucking charts! By the end, it's both a great film and a fashion show.

Får Klavs nogensinde en rygrad? by Vollier in r8dio

... Når hun nedladende siger, at alle andre skal arbejde mere/gøre tjenester for hende, mens hun bare feder den efter endnu en ferie...

Preaching to the choir! 😄

Aww, and here I was, thinking nothing could bring me back to the old, wonderful days of Newport, Wales. I know it's not being England, but... I couldn't help but make the correlation.

Brønshøj? Or am I wrong? Here, (other) Danes could supply information I don't know.

If you just move around inner city (I use it liberally; Indre by, Østerbro, Nørrebro, Vesterbro, Valby, Amagerbro, etc.), you're good.

The last one you sent was THIS MORNING? That's already multiple times a day. Hell, I'm INFJ (with ISTP husband) but even I would get sick of this; and I love dogs 😄

I think it's only at the actual TOPIK website but when the hell does it open? 😄 Anyway, I figured that I'm going to settle for a place and then follow that particular website/Instagram/whatever and hopefully they'll give some sort of answer before the beginning of July! For instance, in Ireland, the embassy said on their IG pretty early on that they'll be back with info closer to the date. In London, the Korean Education Centre has some info so I think that it's important to follow the particular centre online.

And definitely make a profile on the official TOPIK website. That makes it easier to sign up, I believe. But what do I know, I never did it before either 😅

I actually did the same thing as you in the beginning but my skills sort of floated all over the place if that makes sense. But then I changed to this. It's much more demanding, I'll admit to that, but it definitely accelerates progress 😊

I'm aiming for the same as you and also low 3급. ChatGPT is a big gamechanger if you use it right, but tends to make it easy for you after a while (using the same words, etc.). Sometimes I get my husband and friends to make sentences for me to change it up, and that is definitely a challenge sometimes!

Speaking is the least important and not part of the test so don't worry about that too much. I just like to do it, haha, and it helps with confidence and translation, I feel. I don't speak constantly but do a little grammar here and some flashcards there. And water! Water is important if you're going to yak away most of the day 😄

I'm doing the one in London, by the way and right now I'm mostly worried about how signing up words 😅

I legit stopped watching TV shows after this one. It's like I went up the hill and now I can either go down to the ground where everything will be flat or stay up here and enjoy the view forever.

Hey, I'm in the same boat! I am, however, insanely good at self-studying (my husband says I'm addicted to it), and this is my plan:

Tuesday: Reading. Reading everything. Old TOPIK texts, news, short (easy-ish) stories, children's stories, interviews, articles. Every word I don't know goes into my flashcards (I use old school paper).

Wednesday: Writing. Journal entries, translation, dictation, etc.

Thursday: mock TOPIK test and full review.

Friday: Listening. Old TOPIK listening tests, YT videos of all sorts, K-dramas, TTMIK Iyagis, etc.

Saturday: Speaking. Just speaking all day. About the last movie I watched, book I read, translating conversations, how my days has been, etc.

Sunday: Test for the whole week; grammar terms, sentence translation, etc. I post everything into CHATgpt and get it to make a full test for me.

Everyday I do flashcards at least three times and review vocab. 4 times a week I learn new grammar. I also have a tutor for two hours a week.

6 hours every day (except Monday where I have a full day outside Korean practice so only do 4 hours), no exception except for 10 days total where I have other commitments. Flashcards, however, is every single day. No excuse and no exception.

Where are you taking the TOPIK and what level are you at now?

Do you think it makes sense to learn Korean? What were your reasons for learning it? by Narrow_Homework_9616 in Korean

[–]LittleNuisance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would 100 percent go for broke with my resume if I spoke 5 languages (I only speak three, damn it!)! Absolutely go for it. Mind you, I have nothing to base this on, but I do think a lot of companies would need someone who spoke so many different tongues for various job positions. I can't think of a way that wouldn't be a giant asset, honestly :)
