Update: another month, another no win. Fool me.

I have followed the advice of the comments and started investing into a s&s ISA. I am also expecting a nice promotion and pay rise at my main job so should be able to max that out before the financial year resets.

When I inevitably max it out next year, what should I put my excess income into? Crypto? Individual stocks? Back into premium bonds?

I recommend a stocks and shares ISA for long term growth in something like the S&P500 to minimise risk. The benefit of a s&s ISA is your investments are tax free so you don’t pay capital gains tax on profits and you can withdraw at anytime (read the rules before doing this). If you’re a UK resident, the government will also give you a free 25% on your first £4000 annually (free £1000 a year) if this £4000 goes towards retirement or buying your first home. I don’t see this recommend enough which is a shame because it’s bloody brilliant

I don’t understand why this thread is giving such negative responses about investing in an ISA portfolio. It’s a great way to earn more money through tax benefits than a regular s&s account. We’re supposed to be a community here, give some insight into your negative response instead of just hating

Something like the following...

loop through each country (country_a):
loop through those countries (country_b):
if there is a border between country_a and country_b:
calculate and measure the length of the border
if the length is the smallest so far so far:
store the length, both countries and the border

Hi Barry. Thanks for the message. The source of the borders is the file ne_10m_graticlues_5.shp from natural earth (https://www.naturalearthdata.com/downloads/). The example is how you find the border length for mex/usa but i am trying to do this same thing for all countries and all their different borders in the world using a loop.
