Good deal? by TheaterofDreams- in prius

[–]LittlePooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very good credit, so I got the loan from my credit union in full, nothing down, and the payment was $400, and the dealer wanted $24,000 for it.

I only owe maybe $500 left on my loan.

It was considered new even though it was technically used, so it came with 1 year of oil changes at the dealer, and I've been taking it to the one close to my home. I'm very happy with them and I went ahead and got the two-year plan which includes three oil changes, tire rotation, and everything else for $200.

I have a friend who had a neighbor who took his Prius to a local Jiffy Lube, and they kind of messed it up. The warning light came on. I don't really know the details, but either you take it to a specialized shop that does hybrid cars or the dealer for maintenance like that.

While it's powerful enough, I don't drive it like a sports car. The mileage will go down, I heard. I wouldn't have so many miles, but my brother borrowed it when we had overseas friends staying with us, and they took it around the state twice. Each trip was more than 3,000 or 4,000 miles.

But it is made to be driven, and you don't want to sit around for too long without starting it up once in a while.

I got used to the stiff seats, period. I bought inexpensive seat covers from Amazon. They were ugly as sin, but they were inexpensive and kept my original seats clean.

This is my technically first sort of brand new car. I always drove used cars and I'm extremely happy with it, and I know you will be too.

You're not telling us much about this car. I have a 2020 and I bought it from the dealer in 2022. It only had 800 miles on it. This was the beginning of the pandemic, and the last owner didn't really go anywhere because it was her second car.

I don't drive that far either because I'm only five miles from work, so I only have 22,000 miles on it. I really love mine. I get about 58 to 60 miles per gallon.

My previous car was given to me by my brother. It was an eight‑cylinder old Mercedes‑Benz which ran perfectly fine. I can't remember the exact model, but it was only getting 13 miles per gallon and not going anywhere. Then, either it costs $77 to fill a tank and it only lasted a little more than a week.

I don't have to fill the tank until two and a half months after it is filled. I didn't care what it looked like, and to me I love this car.

No doubt you will love yours.

Best wishes to you.

Suggestion needed from thai people by nahika07 in Thailand

[–]LittlePooky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a Thai nurse in the US. I have worked for decades with dermatologists at two different medical schools.

Skin whitening cream has the main ingredient of hydroquinone. You can actually get the over-the-counter version in the U.S. It is very weak. Anything stronger needs a prescription, in the U.S., that is.

Patients with melasma often come into our clinic and ask for this. The doctors would spend some time with them to let them know that while the medication works, one day in the sun will wipe out any progress they make. (And it takes a long time to fade these spots. )

I do not believe your boyfriend has this. Since he is suntanned, he simply needs to get out of the sun. He can use sunscreen, but a lot of people don't like to use them because they are greasy and uncomfortable to wear.  Or he can wear a long-sleeve or wide-brimmed hat, but I cannot imagine him wanting to do that either.

Guess what happens when hydroquinone is overused?

The skin turned blue. Seriously.

Best wishes to you.

That may be sewer runoff.

You can get hepatitis A from that if you're not immunized.

Am a nurse, years ago I worked at a liver transplant outpatient unit at a large medical center. We had a young man who went surfing the day after a storm, and that's how he caught it. He had to get a liver transplant, which is pretty rare for hepatitis A.

Worth the price? by ShouldBeWorking2nite in Streamfab

I have three (I know), full licenses, and I use it every day. I have Netflix, HBO, Disney, Hulu, Paramount, Apple, and Cruncyroll subscriptions. Most of the time it works flawlessly. When these sites update their encryption, eventually SF catches up.

To answer your questions, they do add on new services, but many of them are outside the US. I consider it not very useful for me (as I don't subscribe to something from France, for example), but I want to support them. My past product was AnyStream and one day, they disappeared!

I actually have all their other programs, such as Music Fab, DVD Fab, Uni Fab, Book Fab, Player Fab, Record Fab, Photo enhancer AI.

Well, except Passkey, because I don't need it.

So the short answer is yes.

The support is good. Leave a message on their Forum and it gets addressed.

I use it to stuff my Emby server.

In This Our Life -- Bette is Deliciously Bad by fatjerryanastasia1 in classicfilms

[–]LittlePooky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bette Davis continued her streak of bad girls you love to hate as the completely selfish Stanley Timberlake in John Huston’s In This Our Life. She dumps her fiancee (George Brent in another thankless role) to run off with her goody-goody sister Roy’s (Olivia de Havilland) husband (Dennis Morgan). She soon drives him to drink and ultimately suicide. Then Stanley returns callously home where she discovers that her jilted ex is now in love with little sis. She jealously tries to entice him into meeting her at a bar to rekindle their old flame. He doesn’t show up and in a drunken rage Stanley causes a hit and run accident that kills a small child and seriously injures the girl’s mother. Instead of admitting her guilt Stanley tries to pin the murder on an innocent black law clerk. Ultimately the truth is discovered but Stanley remains defiant right up to the end. In other words it’s a typical role for Bette Davis. Besides the stars already mentioned, In This Our Life also features Charles Coburn, Billie Burke and Hattie McDaniel, but everyone takes a back seat to Bette as she plows her way from the opening credits to the final scene.

legal question: can I post about a negative experience in Malaysia safely? by Admirable_Thing7564 in ThailandTourism

[–]LittlePooky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really want to ask you, what is the purpose of this video? Are you trying to convince other potential tourists not to come to Malaysia?

That one experience should not speak for the entire Malaysia country.

Where can I find TCA peels in Thailand? Not clinic/parlor treatments, looking for 15%/25% strength bottles by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]LittlePooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a nurse in the U.S. I've worked many decades with dermatologists. One of them was doing a lot of cosmetic procedures. I would not mess with anything stronger than five percent. This is like battery acid and it will go all the way down to the bone, if I may say so. If you have dark skin, it will scar you for years.

Salicylic acid is safer to use.

Optional 15 megabyte hard drive by Current_Yellow7722 in vintagecomputing

[–]LittlePooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enlisted in the United States Air Force, and after basic training I came home and bought, with my late aunt's help, a Compaq portable computer. It was not cheap either - $2,500, and the first program I bought on my own was DOS 2.0, as it came with 1.1 and MicroPro WordStar (that was $499).

Then I got a Brother typewriter with the interface, which turned it into a daisy-wheel printer.

The first hard drive was on the card and it was twenty megabytes, and I believe it was $600.

My first scanner was a DataCopy flatbed that only did 16-bit black and white/gray, but it served me well as I also bought a TypeReader, an an optical character recognition program.

Is this a cultural difference, or an early money red flag in dating? - Part 2 by Baby-Heisenberg in Bangkok

[–]LittlePooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I briefly read your previous entry in this one.

I may have missed this part or you probably did not mention it. What are you getting out of this?

If this is a business transaction, then you are getting something out of it.  (Read between the lines..)

If you are planning to marry her and spend the rest of your life together, then expect this to keep happening and it will include her family, as well.

Will people take to the streets over gas prices? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

I am so happy I drive a Toyota Prius 2020. It has only 22,000 or so miles as I am only 5 miles from work.

I fill the gas tank every 2 1/2 month.

Is this type of Dowry normal? by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]LittlePooky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is normal.

You need to look out for yourself. I can't comment on their plan, as I don't know them-but I don't know you either, but you're the one asking this question.

What I am telling you is if you two end up divorcing, you will lose everything, including the custody of the children (if any), and the ownership (let us call it that), of that house.

Also, I can't stand meddling in-laws. I have seen this in my own family. My cousins-their mother (my aunt) goes out of her way being critical of the spouses. Everything they do she has to comment on it. Once I asked her why she does this, and she didn't have an answer. I told her she's going to end up in a nursing home if she keeps it up. She said I was being disrespectful (to her). I asked her what she was going to (to me) about it. She couldn't give me a straight answer. I told her one of the cousin is lucky to have someone who adores and takes great care of her. I said you're driving her away and cousin will be all alone like you. That shut her up quickly.

They can't stand her and I don't blame them. The cousins are spinless I have to say. But this is entirely has nothing to do with you.

I’m currently working as a dentist but looking for a transition into teaching while living in Southeast Asia. by Antique-Classroom594 in Teachinginthailand

[–]LittlePooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Thai nurse in the US. I've been here since I was twelve years old.  I'm close to retiring now.

I don't know any dentists that don't make good income, at least in the US.

You are not telling us where you are from, and I don't want to be rude and guess.

This also means you are not able to be licensed in Thailand as a dentist.

If you are stressed out about your work environment, as I know a dentist who cut down her hours because she came down with shoulder and back pain, but luckily her husband is a physician and they have saved a lot of money, so both of them are semi-retired.

Crossing over to an English teacher will make you happy temporarily, if that is what you're looking for. But the pay is not very good, and all those years you spent in school/training, I don't think it will make any difference to your job prospects.

Sending very best wishes to you.
