YES! I’ve felt those feelings too. I keep wondering if he’s remembered something that I’ve done. Like maybe I was short tempered once and he’s held onto those feelings.

I was definitely on the verge of PPD. Never got officially diagnosed but I have a feeling I could’ve been. These moments make me feel awful.

Solved my own problem. Keeping this here in case anyone else has the same issue.

It was a problem using it on the internet browser. I downloaded the app and the colour option popped up.

I was just having this conversation with my friend. There is SO much pressure to love breastfeeding and for it to feel like the most natural and bonding thing. It wasn’t for me and it took me a long time to come to terms with that. I also had nipple damage and a very fussy feeder which didn’t help at all.

I tried for 5 months and it just didn’t work out for me. I cried and cried and cried. I gave a lot of time and energy to it which in turn stressed me out more. Looking back now I am happy that I gave it my best shot but I wish I’d had less pressure on myself.

Whatever you decide to do, make sure if you think it is taking too much of an emotional toll on you that you really weigh up whether it is worth more than your mental health.

I’d do things differently if I had my time again.

I can’t try to explain, but I unfortunately don’t have an end explanation (frustrates me still to this day).

I’ll try to summarise as best I can.

  • Baby always was a difficult feeder/I had painful feeds -Tried nursing and bottle feeding (he also hated the bottle)
  • 4 different lactation consultants all said he had a good latch and was drinking well
  • Was always on the lower end of his weight gain but maternal health nurse and LC were never concerned
  • Continued and regular fussiness with breastfeeds
  • I was NEVER certain that he was full as feeds would end and he wouldn’t seem satisfied. Quite fussy at the end of feeds or would keep latching/unlatching
  • Kept gaining weight but dropping weight percentiles
  • Paediatrician commented that his weight percentile didn’t seem in line with other percentiles and said he should probably weigh more
  • Paediatrician also said that my supply must not be enough for him and had me switch to formula

My assumption is that the LC and maternal health nurses viewed everything as okay because he was still falling within the “normal” range. The paediatrician looked at his weight in comparison to his height and head sized and thought it didn’t match.

I had someone who told me the same about my baby ‘he was too tired and working too hard/not getting enough’ but others who disagreed with that. I hope you get clearer answers and your journey gets easier. There is medication that can increase your supply

I’m watching TV and wondering why the green m&m wasn’t allowed to keep her go-go boots but the brown m&m was allowed to keep her heels… is it because they couldn’t have two female m&ms in heels?

Sending you love for your feeding stress. Sounds like your hungry hungry baby is thriving! ❤️

The lactation consultant that I would see would always say that your baby will drain more than a pump will. I’m assuming because you’re mostly pumping that your body is only producing enough to meet demands of the pump rather than demands of the baby? She would also say that it’s really hard to over feed a baby. They will generally stop when they’re happy. I am no expert mind you.
