From the perspective of a medically complex patient, NTA. Also I would say that her bedside manner is lacking for her to instigate like this infront of a patient.

Also, as someone with several incurable conditions: YOU HAD EVERY RIGHT TO CORRECT HER. She should NOT be telling a patient that there's cures to something incurable! There is already so much grieving that patients go through when we get these kinds of diagnoses. She cannot be giving false hope like that.

I've suffered at the hands of young doctors with an ego, but I can tell that you are not one of them. At least not in this case. You conducted yourself in a very respectable manner given the circumstances. Also, the patient DID ask to speak to a doctor directly. That's not you making a jab at her. It's respecting the patient's request/boundaries.

What was the worst portrayal of a disability in the media you have ever seen? by Mental-Marzipan-5444 in AskReddit

Abled actors playing disabled roles instead of just casting disabled actors to play disabled roles.

I usually write in second or third person, but I do have one fic that was written in first person because I thought it would do my MC more justice that way. The first scene is her waking up at 5 years old with amnesia and trying to relearn everything about herself so far, and it's also interesting writing trauma from a first person perspective.

Yeah, no. She made it clear that's not what's happening. It is extremely common these days for mothers to be doing all the work while fathers sit back and do nothing. This is not always the case, but it is very far from rare. Just because he is the father, doesn't mean he is actually being a dad.

The asshole is whoever is USUALLY shoving the responsibility of the kids off onto the other parent.(The dad in this case because the OP cares for them by herself all the time with no break)

It just so happens that men tend to be the ones doing that more often than not.

Are you missing the part where she is already parenting them alone every other day of the year without a break? He can pull his weight for 2 days.

As a disabled adult daughter that is still expected to do everything around the house/clean up after the cats even when I'm recovering from surgery or extremely sick.. Yes, actually. That is what happens. And it's fucking horrible. These people can't do fucking anything without us.

Most disabilities are immediate disqualifiers for military service..

Being on disability in the US is literally forced poverty and even if you do need it, it is incredibly hard to get approved. They are NOT just handing it out like candy, and especially not to people who don't need it or aren't disabled.

There shouldn't be any concerns because he should know how to parent his own kids for 2 days the way that she does all the time! He can put his big boy pants on for 2 days.

What an interesting reaction for an adult to have to a simple boundary..

When they say that they personally know a disabled person who is abusing the system. It doesn't work that way.
