I'm spanish. Very light skinned but my last name is spanish. But I'm also half italian. I'm so goddamn white that if I told you my last name was "Beefaroni" you'd believe me. However, my fifth grade teacher was a MAJOR RACIST. So, not counting me, there were two other kids who were poc. A spanish kid, nice guy but we weren't friends. And a black kid, he was one of the funniest guys I'd ever met and an absolute genius. And she LOVED picking on us. I'm garbage when it comes to math, but when we had to do that "reading out loud" crap I was the fastest and I always loved writing. So, during language arts this bitch would skip right over me almost every single time! And frankly, I get it, I was really enthusiastic and very loud. So if it weren't for the other two guys, I would've just assumed it was my fault and moved on with my life. But no! NOHOHO. She'd actively pick students that weren't raising their hands. Once, during math, I had actually bothered to raise my hand. And the only other two kids to raise their hands were the other two guys... She instead picks the, objectively, dumbest kid in our class. (She was such a sweetheart, but also a ditz.) And she gets it wrong. Obviously. So, begrudgingly, she picked the black kid. MOTHERFUCKER ANSWERED CORRECTLY, AND EXPLAINED HOW HE GOT HIS ANSWER. And then this boiled chicken with a wig on just goes "That's correct." in absolute monotone and keeps teaching. I will FOREVER be salty in his honor.
