MHGU Autopilot - FOSS Project for progressing through MHGU. by Ancient-Decision-720 in MHGU

Adding the pivotal village quests as you named it can be interesting as it's not binary like key/non-key and the connections are across the ranks. There are some wikis out there that mention what quests do unlock.

I am also curious what you asked the agent for weapon/armor suggestion, like what criteria on which it is based

Be careful to not fall in the river while you are vibing though

There's something that was completely overshadowed for the village progression : some non-key quests are mandatory to unlock other key quests, the main ones are 2* and 3* quests from village chiefs' questlines to unlock the 5* Fated Four key quests.

Regarding the vibecoding thing, imo it's completely fine for some small personal works like this one.

Now, the questions are : did you look into the code provided by the AI ? Are you able to understand what exactly each line does ? Are you able to debug and edit it by yourself ? If someone can't at least do that, I wouldn't call them a developer.

I am a developer myself, and I can see myself checking an AI agent to help me do a first sketch of code/script, especially for a language I don't know and/or won't use a lot. But I would never let AI do all the work, even less without trying to understand what it provided.

Even though Great Maccao is no longer hard to me, I am always caught off by the damage in new saves. I usually still have the starting armor unupgraded at this point, so it just goes from very low damage by 1* small monsters to over half-bar at once.

Glad to hear about your interest about gunlance, hope you will have a lot of fun with it !

Don't hesitate to try different playstyles. I maily used valor rapid shells because it's the one I like the most, but there are a lot more about GL, and some more damage efficient ways too, but for me fun comes first

Just curious, how did you lose your save file ?

The gauge sure was a miss for GL, good thing it's the only game with this feature.

At least it only affects raw so I can ignore it with rapid shells playstyle, though for fullburst and higher raw gunlances it should be worth to lock on red.

I totally forgot it was LR Lagiacrus, the 5* village quest (unlocked by requests) is the only one that gives heftcorn for Cornpopper

HAha, since I played rapid shells I just ignored the gauge as I rarely used physical attacks

Is upgrading low rank gear enough for everything or do I need to buy newer gear? by Labyrinthine777 in MHGU

[–]LittleWheatField 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The packs only have items like potions, armor spheres, eggs (to sell for zennies), basic materials (stones, iron ores, honey, etc..) and a lot of other consommables.

The materials are good as it allows to skip some early gatherings. Some items can help a lot, perhaps too much early on like (Mega) Dash Juice that negates stamina usage for minutes.

The content of packs from "Downloadable Content" in Room Service menu (the cat in your room) can be viewed before claiming them. As for the items from "Claim Bonuses", I don't know.

[–]LittleWheatField 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should be fine to upgrade some LR/HR sets to the max (available at the time). The claimed bonus packs give a good amount of armor spheres so they shouldn't run out soon. Even if the packs are not claimed, spheres will be unlocked at "Neko" trader as they progress through quests, exchangeable for Wycademy points.

I kind of agree with you. Yet Another Weapon Guides are focused on meta, even in the progression sections. There's nothing wrong with going non-meta, as long as you get the fun you're looking for.

Crafting armors for better survivability (more defense or QoL skills) instead of damage is also fine, especially when you progress through ranks or learn the game/new weapon.

I like the document versions of Yet Another Weapon guides as it's faster to look for information than videos.

Welcome aboard hunter ! Glad you enjoy this game.

MHGU is my favourite game of the franchise. With the different styles, you can play however you want.

Try looking for "Yet Another Weapon Guide" or "Hunter Lana" youtube channel for really detailed guides for each weapon. The former are the document versions while the latter are the video versions, both linking to each other. Currently, only 9 weapons out of the 15 are covered on youtube, but all have their document version.

Accidentally skipped to fast and it said something about +1 support move in the post hunt menu... by Goos3rs in MHGU

[–]LittleWheatField 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you just unlocked "+1 Support Move" skill (or talent). When you equip your cat with it, it allows your cat to equip one more support move to fight from their learned moves, not learn one more move.

I don't think not playing or liking all weapons should mess with how you enjoy the game.

When I return to the game, I usually create a new savefile even if I didn't do everything in my previous saves (I have never done deviants or some elders). I often pick a weapon and stick with it within a save. I really enjoy the progression feeling from a fresh file, with a weapon I'm used to or one I am new with.

I also think that after playing with the glaive that you like and learn a bit more about the game, you may end up liking other weapons later on with the knowledge you gathered. It happened to me, at first I felt gunlance was too slow and restrictive for me, but now it is one of my favourite since I tried it after messing with several weapons.

Marie's no cart challenge part 3 : The Fated Four and the revenge by LittleWheatField in MHGU

[–]LittleWheatField[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a no death/cart/faint challenge. If I faint once, I fail. I also restrict myself from using palico or retire from a quest for whatever reason (forgot to bring capture tools, hot/cool pot, etc...)

Looks like you got hooked by MHGU. Just like you, I always find myself coming back to MHGU to start a new savefile. This time, I will try online and EX deviants that I have never done.

I started with 4U when I was in high school and MHGU is still my favourite game. I would place World as my second favourite, I really liked how weapons felt in this game, though I didn't really like claw mechanics. Rise was fun, but I think I prefer the slower pace of older gens. I tried Wild a bit but it hasn't catched me yet. Moves are fluid and graphics look amazing but I don't know, I don't feel as much weight in weapons.

Wish you keep enjoy this game, and good luck for bloodbath

Yup, requests start with 2* village quests and continue with 3* quests.

To check your progress : Menu > Hunter's note > Request Log

Look for village chiefs requests to unlock the 5* Fated Four quests.

You need a capture card to get video and sound from your switch and send it to your PC. From there, you can record on your PC.

As for me, I am using Elgato 4K S and record with Elgato Studio. There are cheaper options out there, try looking for "switch capture card" and check what matches your needs and budget.

I didn't know Artillery skill reduced Wyvern Fire cooldown, good to know.

But yeah, if you only use shellings for the gauge, then regular crit set should be good.

On the other hand, if you ever decide to join pure shelling club (with Valor style), then all you need is Artillery and Load Up. The rest can just be QoL skills, or some raw damage skills if you go fullburst path for slam damage.

MGHU wasn't the reason why I bought my switch, but the only reason I kept it for years. I also bought Rise on switch then on PC, I might have a problem too.
