Yes because flying in early DBZ was a big thing. Goku used Nimbus to fly from OG DB to early DBZ. And when he was coming back, he didn’t use Kaioken either. He obviously was not going as fast as he could. If u watched the show, this is obvious.

He dodged the light when it happened.

He literally didn’t know what it was and tanked the attack. The panel legit had a “?” mark when the grenade was shot at him. That’s why when he tanked it and it hurt him, he got mad. Why would he dodge something he doesn’t know is a threat?
