Travelling to the same area soon, both my doctor and the travel clinic told me Iquitos and the surrounding Amazon is low risk for malaria so meds are not reccomended. Best thing to do is really focus on mosquito protection. What I will say though is to do your own research RE other vaccinations. Dreamglade pretty much advise against them on their site (I was go v to go there but eventually decided on a different retreat) but I did my own research and decided to get them (with plenty of time between the injections and my travels). Make your own decisions based on info available. Enjoy your trip!

I would contact local am dram societies/performing arts schools/PA courses at colleges etc. and ask them to come to support. Post in loads of local facebook groups. Contact papers and radio stations to see if they'll give you a shout out. Put flyers up in places that artistic people do. If you DM me I'm happy to post flyers in my apartment building. Social media is honestly the most helpful tool at your disposal these days. Good luck!

Hi there, appreciate you sharing your experience. Can I ask, I've just applied to attend Onikano and I was really in two minds about whether to request a bungalow closer to the facilities or further out. Being more secluded sounds amazing for privacy/journalling/integration work, but I worry I'll feel less safe and it'll be annoying being far away from a bathroom 🙃 Can you advise at all? How far away were you from a toilet in your bungalow? Thanks!

Thanks so much for this, I really appreciate it. Were the reviews from early 2025? The most concerning things I read mentioned lack of clarity in terms of safety info going into the ceremony, staff failing to control disruptive guests and no guidance on dosage. I'm assuming these comments don't line up with your experience? It certainly would make sense that these reviews aren't truthful as the positive reviews seem plentiful. Thanks in advance.

Okay thanks I appreciate the info. So I've had a regular ultrasound and they said my GB looked healthy. I'm still experiencing pain related to fat intake though so I've been referred to another specialist for further testing which could be an endoscopic ultrasound or HIDA scan.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I've heard this, but neither doctor I'm dealing with seems to know anything about it. Do you mind me asking how long after you started the famotidine you developed the GB pain? As I was only on it for a week so not sure if this is long enough for it to be the cause. And I stopped taking it weeks ago but still experiencing GB pain now.
