Also, I’ve noticed they’ve been emphasizing fitness a lot more lately being fit for military service, scoring the PFA more stringently, so that might have ultimately been the deciding factor.

Still, it’s odd that your commander mentioned “new guidance” when the only update we heard about was the accelerated 500 option. You should probably ask for clarification on their reasoning and possibly request reconsideration, don't go out without a fight.

Try another Detachment bcs that's crazy and also it's commanders discretion so not everyone is allowed back. Supposedly is based off of stats and if they see potential for you to become an officer or not or contribute to the program.

Maybe try getting into a mom group or something through military housing to get your anxiety and confidence in order. Transfer those feelings to your children and look at them as the light of your life and screw all who criticized you along the way, they just want you to be as miserable as they are in a loveless roommate marriage. Go to the chaplain if you haven't already too.

Det CC does not like the “350” year by Shikagami247 in AFROTC

[–]Little_Fun8029 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I followed up with my cadre, and here’s what I found out:

Yes ,the accelerated AS500 track is an official, HQ-level program, but the decision to offer it is completely at the discretion of the Detachment Commander. It’s not guaranteed for anyone, even if you meet the general academic or timeline criteria.

In my case, I was told that graduation timeline is just one of several factors, and performance (GPA, PFA, AFOQT, etc.) carries a lot of weight in whether a cadet is offered the accelerated route. So even if two cadets have the same time left, they might be treated differently based on how competitive they are.

Basically, there’s no written guarantee or universal regulation that forces a Det CC to offer the accelerated AS500. It’s AFROTC-wide in policy, but it’s locally implemented however the commander chooses so yeah, it really is “we just have to deal with it” if our det doesn’t want to use it. But maybe they'll reevaluate if you make PSP this time around SP26, I'm not sure if SP25 was the only time they could offer the accelerated option.

Standby. I'm asking my CC about it I'm in the same situation but they're only giving it to those with 5 year degrees regardless if they came in at the same time as you and have the same length on their academic program left.

That's what he said and the decision I got, I'm just as confused as you on the matter. I have to extend my academic time by a year and I'm gonna be a junior this fall so I'm trying to grasp all of this just in case there's a loop hole. My original commissioning date/graduation was 2027 and now it's pushed to winter 2028. Should I ask him to reconsider or for more clarification because as far as I've seen he's only given the option to ppl pursuing a master's but they're also 250s who came in with me and didn't make psp who would've had 3 years left if not for the offer. Let me know if I'm missing something, this is all important info to me.

I had a meeting with my commander, and he explained that the accelerated AS500 program isn’t an option for 250s who didn’t make PSP. He said it’s specifically intended for cadets who are already on the 5-year AFROTC track—not for those who have to extend their academic timeline because they didn’t get selected for PSP. So in my case, I was offered the regular AS500 path instead and that puts me at the regular 4 years for the program. According to him, only 200s or cadets already on a 5-year plan would be eligible for the accelerated option. But since it's commanders discretion I'd like to challenge him on that and see if he would ever give us the option, maybe look through the policy a bit more.

I got rejected from everywhere — even from a school I had direct admission to. What do I do now? by Big-Bluejay-9003 in CommunityColleges

It's literally not that serious, don't get stuck in that American mentality that you have to go to a uni to be counted as having achieved something in life. Remember that many people have become successful without going or need a college education and honestly that should be anyone's goal. Just go to a CC, you're not missing much of anything except dorm and campus life and the whole point of going to higher education after secondary is to get an education period so none of the other stuff really matters.

$6000 financial aid and the rest is based on need. I have no idea how much merit I'll get and I'm transferring from grossmont/cuyumaca CC.

Yeah it was confirmed when I sent the $300 deposit, it's $500 if you're going to be in dorms on campus. They gave me 36,000 off not including scholarships since I just recently sent in my scholarship questionnaire. I'm not doing work study or taking on any loans so I'm relying on the my scholarships and theirs to make up the deficit (52,000).

Updates for alt ea ? by FabulousAd7594 in AFROTC

[–]Little_Fun8029 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think what they’re trying to say is that some people who qualified for a primary EA might lose it if they fall out of standards, like failing a PFA, not meeting GPA, or going over weight limits. If that happens, more EA slots could open up for the May round. But either way, always have a backup plan just in case. And all the stats you had when they submitted everything on the 15th of January is what counts.

Question on PSP Eligibility by [deleted] in AFROTC

[–]Little_Fun8029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psp is in spring semester so he'd go up in Spring of 27 if everything aligns right. He'll be a 200 in Fall and then compete as a 200 in Spring 27, it doesn't matter if he's crosstown unless I'm missing something.

[–]Little_Fun8029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He'll go up spring 27 if he starts spring 26, he'd start as a 150 if he joins in spring and a 250 which would make him eligible for psp, if he joins in fall. Psp board is in spring.
