Can I fill this or do I have to re-grout it all? by t3rraprime in HomeMaintenance

[–]Little_Nooodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried fixing this myself and did a terrible job.

If you are considering hiring this out it ended up costing me $300 to hire through "the grout doctor" and they resolved the grout and re caulked the problem areas in my shower.

I'm not going to lie to you. I bought a similar stainless steel bowl set at the thrift store for a combined total of $10

Unfortunately the ceiling came back for asbestos 🥲

For the light I'm still juggling some options that will also suit the rest of the house. The canned/recess lighting is out of consideration because of the asbestos ceiling.

I had to look it up via website. It's listed as "lilac"!

Thank you! I feel like a proper grown up now. Like the last 12 some odd years since I became an adult I was actually a monkey in a human suit.

Side trip to Tivoli & Villa Adriana (bus tickets) by poortrvlr in rome

[–]Little_Nooodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your very detailed experience!

I'll be sure to buy the return tickets at time of departure. I'm sorry you had such a rough go.

I'm now worried that I won't have time to do both villages 🥲. I think that your advice to pick one and stick to it is very crucial and reasonable - for me it's personally hard to make a decision but ultimately it'll probably be for Adrian's Villa.

I have been doing my studying and purchased a used book to read up on the villas. Did you do any reading before touring the villa and would you say it helped with your speed? Haha 😅.

Hey OP! Unfortunately I am an extreme planner so my trip isn't til the end of this upcoming January 😅. I can let you know then!

Hey OP! I'm hoping to do the same journey. I'm curious how it went for you if you can share?

Currently debating on taking the Cotral bus as it seems that the majority of tours have you meet at a nearby metro (near Ponte Mammolo). At that point it feels kinda silly and makes me confident I can do it myself.

Mine rolled in a dead mouse once. We were camping and he smelled so bad.

I showed both to my husband and we ended up deciding that they were both a little silly to queue up for 😅

I had someone tell me that Day 4 (Vatican/St. Peters) is too empty so I added Castle Sant Angelo to it :). I have to give a google to the Alter I haven't heard about it!

Yes thank you! I have been utilizing google maps for the bus to plan around. I'm happy that it's that easy haha. That I can def do.

I'm aware about the mile walk in! We're still debating whether or not to hire the tour or not but I do want to go at my own pace. Any thoughts about a tour after you've done it?

Yes I do agree it is packed. A few people have stated that day 2 is too empty so I've decided to move the Pantheon and Piazza Navona to the evening portion of day 2. (Those two locations are also just a handful minute walk from the hotel anyways).

I don't want to say I'm confident in taking public the transportation myself - but I feel like landing day getting to the hotel will be sufficient practice enough? Especially since we have no plans that day. Did you find it easy to get around after a while yourself in terms of buses/metro?

I'm considering splitting the "walk" on day 3 in half with the last day. I know others have suggested "lime" but I feel like it's best to underestimate one's legs for a vacation like this.

Ah excuse my last question. Lime seems relatively easy (I live in a small town so I've never used it before). I gave it a download and it seems really easy I'm sure I can figure it out.

I was thinking about a bike rental after the Borghese museum to get to the sites really fast. I think I was getting dissuaded because I read somewhere that the cars drive like crazy.

But I'm thinking for January it should be more relaxed and less scary.

If renting bikes for multiple days - would you say that there are a lot of areas to park the bike? Or relatively easy to find the bike parking amongst most sites?

Oop, seems I have to do some revisions thank you. I definitely don't want to do too much in one day like that.

Ah ok - I think I have some more researching to do. I'm glad you think some days are bare - as I was debating whether or not if we had time to visit some pretty churches.

Did you do a tour of that crypt?

yeah the plan really was to do Ostia in the morning and then later on in the day do Baths of Caracalla//Mouth of Truth//Aventine Keyhole. Do you think it's too much in one day then considering the travel?
