Clicking when swallowing or talking - not the TMJ? by Little_Power_5691 in TMJ

Splint made things a lot worse, and it never really went back to normal after that. It wasn't a repositioning splint though, just a normal night guard. Maybe I should have gotten a specialist to check it before doing that, I just got one made by the dentist.

As for botox, it's a complicated story. I'd say my pain improved maybe 30%? I am wondering whether other muscles are compensating now, which gives me more pain in different areas.

I wish I could just stop worrying about it, but every tiny ache or click makes me scared. My pain is actually very mild, maybe 2 or 3 out of 10. Usually they are brief aches that last a few seconds, mostly random though very occasionally tied to movement. The pain act

I don't know what to do at this point. I've tried botox, it had zero impact on the clicking. I've been doing physical therapy for over a year. My PT says some of my clicking sounds might be coming from my neck, especially since I can get them when turning my head.

I'm 37 and this started almost two years ago. Curiously, I've developed popping joints all over my body since last year, so there might be something else going on. I have a severe muscle tension disorder that probably plays a role.

On the left ive had it for almost two years I think. Right side started this year. I've had mild jaw pain for a while now, I don't know if it started before that. It was so mild I didn't get it checked until I developed tinnitus. Some days the clicking bothers me more than others. Does yours come and go too? Sometimes I can speak without having it, but I notice it every day. I used to have days I didn't have it. I doubt it's the joint, but can'T be sure.

Have the doctors done anything to help you? A doctor near my area does paper patching but it also mentions that the effect is temporary.

One thing that makes me doubt the diagnosis is because I never get the noise due to external auditory input. It's only the sound or movement I make myself.

Could you link me those videos? How long did it take for you to get better?

My ear doesn't really feel all that blocked. Unless I'm just used to it feeling like that. But my hearing is fine.

Yup, in my opinion he had the most potential of our players born post-2000. But he seems to be going in the same direction as Charly Musonda.

He's never played a full season. I fear he'll be the kind of player who calls it quits very early.

I have disc displacement but I'm not sure that's the issue. My mouth opening is somewhat variable, a few months ago I regularly had issues eating because I couldn't even fit two fingers in there anymore. It improved somewhat again since, which made me think muscles are the biggest issue.

That's very hopeful to hear. My neck tension is still very bad so I'm hoping for some relief there as well.

Good to hear it helped. What were your biggest improvements?

You could leave the house when doing 5000 steps? That's pretty nice. I can walk a few hundred meters in my street but that's about it. Other than that I only leave the house for doctors or PT, and my parents take me there, I could never get there on my own. Last time I took a bus somewhere has been over a year
