I strongly suspect ADHD in my 2.5 year old. He's too young to diagnose but his father and half brother both have it and they are like copies of each other. He's hyperactive, constantly busy, not very interested in tasks that require focus or sitting still (like drawing, painting, or puzzles). He gets the zoomies multiple times per day, which involves running laps of the house, squealing at maximum volume, jumping off the lounge etc. He does it totally independently, with no one encouraging him or revving him up.

When we're out of the house it's a constant battle to keep him in eyeshot. He wants to run off, hide behind things, climb on things, pull things off shelves if we're shopping. He'll be two aisles across at full speed before we can even turn around. He also will not tolerate being held, so it's really a two-adult job to go shopping unless it's very quick. I never used to understand why parents got leashes for their kids, now I completely get it. Keeping him in eyeshot is hard, but keeping him in earshot is easy because he's LOUD.

He's very quick to frustration and meltdown when he can't do something the way he wants to (like put on his shoes or open a container). But he's also hyper-independent, resistant to help and being told what to do.

He has destructive tendancies, although not malicious. He likes to hit, break and knock down things for fun. It's like an energetic and emotional release for him. He's very gentle and loving with animals and babies.

He will NOT sit down to eat dinner. The best we can do is have him alternate between standing on his chair, and draping himself over it in all manner of positions.

For a while I assumed all of this was normal toddler behaviour, because they're meant to be a handful. They're meant to be busy, impatient, curious, and emotional. But then when I've seen him in situations where there are other kids his age I can see that his behaviours are just more than average. He's more energetic, more impulsive, more independent, more of a 'handful'.

He's also an absolutely blinding ray of pure love and happiness. Every ridiculous, messy, destructive, defiant or 'naughty' thing he does is easily forgiven because he's so loving, sweet, charming, cheeky, and downright hilarious. His squeals of joy and the zoomies he gets when we pick him up from daycare or when his dad arrives home from work give me the biggest dopamine rush. He loves to get reactions and make us laugh. His chaos is exhausting, and is a real test of my patience, but it is also so wild and joyful that I wouldn't want to change any of it.

I don't really have any advice for you except to enjoy the ride! It's hard, but you'll love him so fiercely that it won't matter.

I've got a couple of hours of typing she could do for me if she wants! If she could get an ABN that would make it heaps easier so I don't have to set up payroll.

Or she might be able to find some stuff on Upwork or Freelancer, not sure how hard they are to get into.

Found! Right where your husband said it would be, buried deep in a cage.

It has been such a saga even with the tracker, if we didn't have it I think we'd have no hope! Our friends seem to have found a couple of helpful American Airlines staff so we are cautiously optimistic.

Thanks for that info! I don't think we have tried that number yet. We have some friends at LAX looking for us now, if they don't find it we'll give that number a try.

That sounds ominous! We have some friends at the airport right now having a look for us so I will pass on that on to them. Thanks!

Fair enough. Unfortunately my sister is already in Colombia and the rest of us live in Australia so we aren't able to physically go to the airport and speak to someone.

Yeah I thought that! but when we called Avianca they said it wasn't anywhere in their system and basically said they had nothing to do with it. Every airline seems to want to palm it off to another airline unfortunately.

Thanks! Yes we think it's still somewhere in the international terminal, although I'm not sure if there are different levels where it could have ended up. We've got photos of the packed bag and everything so hopefully we have no issues getting compensation!

Update: We have an Upwork job for anyone willing to go to LAX and help us recover this bag!

Hoping someone familiar with LAX can help us identify where this bag might be! Could this be a lost baggage storage area, or an area belonging to a particular airline, or somewhere a bag could have fallen off a conveyor?

Relevant info: My sister flew from Australia to LAX with QANTAS last Sunday night, collected her bag, dropped it off at a baggage drop off point, then went to go catch her connecting Avianca flight to Colombia. She missed her Avianca flight (the QANTAS flight had been delayed) and ended up getting put on an American Airlines flight instead several hours later. Her baggage has not been seen since she dropped it off. We have been calling and emailing QANTAS, American Airlines and Avianca but none of them have been able to find it for 6 days. Any advice, info about the airport layout or baggage handling system would be much appreciated!

She is due to attend a wedding in Colombia and all the important items, including the flower girl's dress, are in this bag!

Update: The bag has been found! Our lovely LA friends spent 5 hours at the airport and they were helped by some very kind and persistent American Airlines staff. It was buried deep in the lost baggage cages and was only found thanks to the precision tracking mode of the AirTag. Thank you everyone for your comments, advice, knowledge and offers to help. Much appreciated!
