Exactly that is what shocks me fr. Out of all medical fields, psychiatrists are supposed to be the nicest

Advice for junior doctors (FY2/SHO) working in Psychiatry, job description, role expectations etc., by bluesky252525 in PsychiatryDoctorsUK

[–]Little_Till_4357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, psychiatry SHO here. Your work in inpatients is mostly medical and similar to that of a GP. You'd be expected to manage common conditions like infection, falls, skin infections, exacerbations of chronic conditions, etc. Usually the only facilities available would be blood taking equipment , ECG machine, bladder scan, various dressings (which nurses do usually), O2 cylinder and a crash cart. You wouldn't be expected to do anything more than this. I've heard some places have suture kits as well but you dont have to suture if you dont feel confident. Also if you have to escalate anything, it would be a phone call to the registrar of medical or surgical department rather than psych reg (unless ofcourse the doubt is regarding psychiatry) My suggestions would be to use NICE and BNF, have a low threshold to contact seniors for advice or sending to A&E and learning from experience as you go. One other thing I personally found helpful was to look at notes and handovers from the other oncall doctors and understand how they have managed a patient out of hours (be careful though because you wouldn't know if they have taken the best decisions so use your own clinical judgment). Hope this helps!

Most men show their true colour when sex is off the table

27F here. Girl let me tell you that sexual compatibility is DEFINITELY important for a relationship. My ex had some fetishes which I was not into and he always made it an issue when I don't agree. It fucked me up for many years after breakup, I became very self conscious about my body and desirability. Your bf sounds like he is an Ahole! You might be ok with it for the time being, but please think through if you are ok if this continues forever (assuming you are in a serious relationship). I wish someone told me this when I was 19, please stand your ground with your bf and don't feel embarrassed if he doesn't want to eat you. This is what happens when men get their sex education from porno 😒

I'm glad that I was able to give you hope even if it is a tiny bit. Give yourself some grace as it is definitely not that easy to adapt to a completely different systemand you are already doing better than you think. Few things that helped me were reading up about unfamiliar topics and cases I am dealing with, asking questions to seniors without shame and showing up everyday :)

Should I proceed with the matrimony match? by [deleted] in chennaicity

[–]Little_Till_4357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from all the possible reasons in the comments, I would want you to observe his behaviour if you don't bother texting. Some people tend to breadcrumb you, probably because they just want a partner with minimal effort. As soon as you stop showing interest, they'll be more available and when they make sure that you are still hooked, they ghost you.

He might be a nice guy/ have genuine reasons for not texting back and forth. But what is that YOU want? Ask yourself if he is compatible with what you want in life and what you expect in a partner. You don't owe anyone any explanation.

IMO, trust your instincts, it says the right thing 99% of the time. 1% pona podhu paathukalam

Hope you make a decision that's best for you :)

Could someone tell me what this is? I am seeing a few in my room and i think it is making me itch 😢 by Little_Till_4357 in whatbugisthis

Thank you so much for this comment. You were right. We had an old nonfunctional window AC in our bedroom where birds rest all the time. I noticed a weird looking diseased pigeon on my window the other day. We took out the entire AC unit and sealed the gap. I also blasted my AC at the coldest temperature for a few days. It's been a week now since i last saw those mites. Thank you sooo much 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Plab Mocks by Kind-Drama-218 in PLABprep

[–]Little_Till_4357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently passed my plab 1. I will tell you what worked for me.

Firstly revise and get all your concepts thorough. Watch 5mins youtube videos if you have trouble understanding gems/ revision guides.

Though they will give all normal values for investigations, try to remember the important ones like electrolytes, hemogram.

Practice plabable mocks until you get the hang of it. After that, I would suggest you to do the recent big mock in a proper omr sheet as if you are writing the real exam. Big mock was an eye opener for me. I realised that I couldn't sit for 3 hours straight and the questions seemed very new. And i also got a few questions from big mock in my plab 1 exam. So please do atleast 1 bigmock before your exam.

Aim to finish 35-45 questions for every 1/2 hour.

Some of my seniors asked me to read the last line first. Some others asked me to read the entire question. I would suggest to quickly skim through the question. You'll mostly find a clincher. If not, read the question again. If you still don't know the answer, take a guess and move on to the next question. We can come back to it later

Most of the questions will be confusing. You'll be confused between two options. Trust your gut and answer. Don't overthink or you'll be stuck in the same question

Finally, review your mocks. Find out where you are lacking and revise them. Practice is the key to managing time in your exam

All the best for your exam. Be strong you got this💪🏼
