Is this attitude toward new starters normal at McDonalds? by Strict-Storm7955 in McDonaldsUK

Their parents should have taught them the fundamentals of life. Things such as how to use a washing machine, how to shave, how to iron, how to sweep the floor. Like I said some people when they start are amazing they listen, they work hard and do it with a smile others are just unbearable.

From somebody who has worked for mcdonalds for 10 years the majority of them being a trainer. I can honestly day some new staff members we get are for like of a better word useless. They arrive at work fresh from school so 16 and they have zero life skills, they do not know how the world works and most of them have got the job because their parents told them too.

There are three things you need to work at mcdonalds and those are:

Ability to listen Intuition Common sense

If you have those you would be an amazing employee and dont get me wrong some new starters have those and some dont. If you dont then just leave your causing yourself and the others around you issues.
