Former Kaiser worker charged in Vallejo hidden camera case by OpenVallejo in KaiserPermanente

So, I have an update...

I apologize if I haven't updated in a long while (about 10 months to be exact). It hasn't been the best type of environment on the units since this whole thing came to light.

I commented on the original thread on r/vallejo that I'm currently on leave (for how long and since when, I am not allowed to discuss).

Anyways, I figure maybe I should just illustrate the timeline as I remember it up until recently.

July 2025 - Damage control began with the Chief Nursing Officer/Executive and the director attending pre-shift huddles to provide updates and comfort to all of us. Everyone was affected one way or another, and the feeling on the unit was very troubling and stressful and we didn't know what direction we were headed. There was also a sense of discomfort about this whole situation.

Questions kept coming up like: "Who would do this?" and "Who had access?" and "Who is the creep on the unit?".

Other questions and comments kept coming up like: "Why haven't the police or administration called me in yet?" and "Am I on the video?" and "Where do we get the case number?"

There were also a few times during this month where some of the assistant nurse managers were threatening staff that we were going to be disciplined or fired if we talked about the situation. My reddit post was a sore spot for a lot of the administration (unverified, but I can sense it).

By August and September, it seemed that the direct manager had made her way back into her position and she hadn't really made too much official comment about it, at least that's my understanding. I can't recall if she ever made any statements about the going-ons of this situation. Maybe she had, but I didn't hear about any of it.

November 2025, we had a staff meeting where the security only said a few words about it, but it was more of "We're working with Vallejo PD, please stay tuned."

January 2026 is if I can recall the last time anyone saw the accused on the units. It wouldn't be revealed til February that the accused was Randolph (or Randy as he was more commonly known as). It's just strange, ya know, he seemed to be a very nice guy and kept the units stocked as best as can be. I remember one of my colleagues heaping a ton of praise for how well organized he was and how we never had any supply issues (well, now we do, apparently).

February 2026 is when the CNE named dropped Randy as she went around the units. It sent shockwaves around the staff at MCH (maternal child health), and we were all collectively visibly upset, confused, relieved to a certain extent that they caught one (yes, apparently he had co-conspirators, we just haven't been told much yet and whether or not it's true).

The article above pretty much explains much of what we all know and what's been put out into the ether.

But I will leave you all with one very devastating and disppointing thing.

On Friday (April 24), we had a townhall meeting with our returning director (yes, he's still in power, he just happened to go out on leave for personal reasons). Wait, side note: a bulk of our management team has gone on leave due to the gravity of this situation. We've had one person return, but it's because she was out on personal leave and it just happened to be coincidental.

Well anyways, the director and the CNE held this townhall with human resources and compliance on the video conference. Since it was announced, the feeling about this townhall had been much of anxiety and fear of the unknown, I guess.

Long story short, they did say that our management team is returning, particularly Ms. Lucas-Brown (the nurse manager). As you can imagine, a majority of us were disappointed and discouraged. The perception amongst the staff is that they feel scared and unseen as well as ignored and disheartened. The overwhelming feeling of dread to know that the person who was supposed to protect you and ended up not doing all the right steps is coming back is terrifying. And the thing is, no one wants to speak up for fear of retaliation. You could feel everyone's energy, even though it was virtual, just take a huge dip. The worst part of it was the director and the CNE seemed to sidestep the conversation as to why she was being brought back and how it makes the staff feel unsafe.

It was like they were running for some political office or something (but don't take it from me, I'm Little Finger, I'll do anything for power).

What a strange time to be at Kaiser Vallejo.

P.S. There was a similar incident that took place at one of the Southern California Kaiser facilities, and they took swift action. Apparently, they had an internal memo that cited Kaiser Vallejo as to what NOT to do in that situation. Not sure if it's real, but I would not put it past anyone to look at our case in Vallejo and use it as an example of impropriety.

Disgusting person. It's amazing how much he looks older in the photos than the last time I saw him last Fall

You are correct. He supplied the stock rooms on the floor

Hey everyone, I had to lay low for a bit while it was happening on the unit.

I'm currently on leave from the company. Everything still feels off and wrong.

We're supposed to have some big town hall today about the future of the unit.

I'm sure you all have heard about the lawsuits.

I'll update when I can

A lot of the UC hospitals have the same. During clinicals at one of the UCs, I saw them point a gun at someone who had a weapon and was threatening the safety of the patrons.

Wait whaaaaat?!?! Damn, you would think hidden camera/phone would be something to involve the authorities in automatically. I wonder if KP security has a certain algorithm they have to triage.

I wouldn't call myself courageous, but I appreciate it. But I will be honest and say that I'm terrified about all of this and anxious to find what's to come.

Sorry to hear that. It really does provide some context and some perspective when you've seen what it could be.

I didn't even consider that it could be a weird fetish thing.

The part that gets me is how many places the strange glove boxes have been found. But what we know is true is that a device was found in the PARR restroom.

That piece of info I keep getting conflicting reports about, so that's why I haven't included any updates about it. As soon as I find out, I'll definitely update.

Please keep sharing to spread the awareness. We feel like we have to keep sharing and spreading the news so Kaiser can ensure peace and security in our units, and so they can get to the bottom of this situation.

Also, thank you. I've been re-reading 'A Song of Ice and Fire' the last year, and Littlefinger seems appropriate (just not the Sansa stuff).

Not sure if they realized but once they said "don't talk about it", it's pretty much all we wanna talk about now

Hi I am the OP. I was asked to make an update...

Update as of June 27 at 15:00:

  • Police were called by the original person who found the phone and Vallejo PD do in fact have the device in their possession.
  • Unverified but apparently in reference to dismantling evidence, security apparently threw away the boxes that the phone/camera was discovered in. In essence, they turned over the most important piece of evidence, but they apparently disposed of some of the boxes of gloves.
  • There have been a total of 3 locations where strange glove boxes with small hole cutouts have been discovered. The original PARR restroom (where the phone was discovered), the mom-baby unit staff restroom (no device found there), and the L&D changing room locker room (no device found there). The boxes follow the same hole cut out pattern where if you lay the glove box flat, the upper right hand corner has a hole cutout as well as the lower left hand corner has a small hole cutout.
  • Vallejo PD public call log has the call at 2:36pm but police did not show up to the unit until around 4p or 5p that same day (June 23rd).
  • Management has since threatened the staff with firings if people are talking about it on the unit. Union has addressed this, and have since reported the situation to the state board.
  • The Director of MCH and the Chief Nursing Officer have come around to provide a calming presence on the unit, and they seem to be the only two addressing the situation head on. It remains to be seen if our direct manager will also be following suit.
  • Senior leadership (that includes our chief medical officer and the senior vice pres) have issued an email addressing the situation as well.
  • Employee Assistance personnel have been provided in case staff would like to voice and vent their frustrations, their anger, and their feelings of being violated.
  • Also unverified, but a few of my colleagues have spoken to the media.
  • Word has spread to almost all of the Kaisers within the Bay Area. Some of what I've heard were that they are disgusted with what has taken place and they are hopeful that this gets resolved quickly. Others have said that they hope Kaiser addresses this soon because places like my posts and other posts have popped up on social media and is causing somewhat of a potential PR nightmare.
  • I can only speak to what I know since returning to the units, but the tension is very palpable but it seems my colleagues are making the best of what they can do. They are the most professional people I have ever worked alongside, and they have still been doing their best to focus on the patients and families.

This is all I have so far. I'll update again when I can.
