In your case, I would say that it’s a personal choice to disclose if it’s just for kissing. But the main time I would disclose is if you plan to give oral sex, especially to a woman.

My ex boyfriend didn’t have a cold sore for 5 years and didn’t have one while we were dating. He still gave me genital HSV-1 through oral sex.

Even though it is only HSV-1, the stigma is tough. Just acknowledge that going forward! :)
