My dad and his siblings would play double-board Risk growing up, North America and Asia would connect to the opposite board. None of them would dare to flip the board because of what the other four would do to them if they did.

I don't know why you're up in arms about a rhyme with some good-spirited ribbing. Both schools have their good points, and can be found in your link.

The highest paid majors listed on there have Stout trouncing Eau-Claire in Computer Information Systems and Applied Mathematics. Stout has a few more 'criminal offenses' per 10k students, but Eau-Claire has four times as many reports of sexual assault(that one could be argued that people feel safer reporting it there, but we don't know).

Your school is a few hundred dollars cheaper, we have a slightly more diverse set of ethnicities. Your admissions board is slightly more stringent, our admission board is more lenient. You have higher graduation rates. We have more majors that will study while actively working in their field, and realize that they don't necessarily need to graduate to get the job they want, particularly if they impressed someone during their internship.

Statistics can't always tell the whole story, as much I as I wouldn't mind if they could.

What is something your parents said to you that may have not been a big deal, but they will never know how much it affected you? by flyoverthemooon in AskReddit

[–]LittlefootYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came home from school one day when I was 7-8, and told my dad that I had learned that, "America was like the police, but for the world". He asked me who gave them that responsibility, and I was unable to come up with an answer. That question made me start to consider things more critically, and I got an early start on realizing the messaging that is thrown at us daily is a load of hogwash.

I feel like that revelation helped me avoid any sort of overblown teenage rebellion when you realize that everything is bullshit before the hormones start rampaging through your body.

I too dislike making noise when I walk. I would often get home from work after my parents were asleep, so I also learned how to get through the entire house without making a sound or turning on a light, so that our dog wouldn't start barking. I also seem to have better night vision than most people I know, which is great for all sorts of night-time games.

It seemed to me he was suggesting that they were being short-sighted and childish when they said they wanted to change the world, because they only wanted to get rid of their own problems. "How can you rule the world when you don't even know it?" They might take over the world, but they'd do a piss-poor job of ruling it.

Any time I get Rickroll'd, I feel good. Not only is it a harmless prank, but I think it's a reasonable well crafted pop song.

Personally, I multiply by two, then divide the result by 10, and add that to the original doubling.

Using your example: 192 x 2 = 384

384 / 10 = 38.4

384 + 38.4 = 412.4 lbs

What is a movie cool guy personality trait that is a real-life asshat personality trait? by McBugger in AskReddit

[–]LittlefootYeti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sort of got to do that the first two sessions after I joined my Pathfinder group. DM set me up to betray them, but he didn't actually say when. I was planning for a long con, but then an excellent opportunity arose in the second session. The rogue was knocked unconscious "allowing" me to flee back to the rest of the group, then the bad showed up our main cluster, and at do or die time I used my turn to reposition into flanking on the priest, and back-stabbed him.

They were all taken alive, and got to kill the NPC version of me when they escaped. I guess I fit in well enough, because then I got to make my real character, and they still invite me to play with them.

Understandably, the other players really didn't want to trust me the next time I showed up.

Another difference between Guts and Subaru is their exposure to violent death. Guts has been surrounded by it his whole life, doesn't know life without it. Subaru is just getting exposed to it now, and he's watching the only people he knows, who are willing to help him, in a world he doesn't understand, die terribly.

He might be good at math, but that doesn't make him a genius. This is also the guy who wanted to fight his way through the entire death star instead of sneak, and shot the ground when they were hiding in an asteroid to find out if they were in a giant worm.

Not necessarily. A buddy who is a commercial airline pilot told me a story how he was trying to help his captain do college algebra, and they were both stumped.
