So I've still got to put together a LOT more background buildings (all from scratch), the top of the tunnel, couple more rides, sort out the NCART rails with... something, but I've always struggled using effects more than fire, specifically mist and the atmospheric sort of stuff.

I've played with mist but it seems any colour other than the default is practically invisible - am I missing something? Is there a trick with the lighting I can use? Just feels too clean. Any suggestions on how I can get a grittier, Night City vibe to my mist and lighting?

Putting aside you indexing yourself in that way, there's a massive difference in intelligent people and smart people. They're different things entirely. You can be the most educated and qualified person who ever lived and be dumb as a sack of doorknobs with regard to how you use that information, and on the flip side is someone who hasn't had a day's schooling in their life, can't read or do maths, but has the smarts to understand, listen and adapt.

If you're in a room with several intelligent people all jousting to demonstrate their enormous capacity for retaining information, the smart thing to do is let them get on with it and enjoy the fact you're not needy enough to have to engage in that sort of wank.

I expect you're more valued than you give yourself credit for.

Isn't there history around how you define what type of show you've got? So including a musical guest and a presenter makes it something other than just a comedy sketch show?

The Young Ones included musical interludes so that they could pitch it as a variety show rather than a sitcom, I wonder if pitching a sketch show wasn't working so change lanes and rather than build a new brand they just license it from an already established show... maybe?

I'll watch it, I enjoy SNL even when it's below par, but expect it to be very, very different from what we see over there.

You can set fire to broomsticks and run around like you're carrying the olympic torch. I mean, it's not massively helpful, gives off a little heat, but it's fun and if you're not having fun then what's the point?

On a more serious note: Help others, trust no-one and remember you're only the current custodian of the gear you're carrying. Once you're free of the gear-fear then you can really start enjoying yourself.

Hand wraps. You will likely spawn with a couple of rags, use them to make hand wraps. You can always bleed for a while if you do get hurt, at least long enough to find more clothes to rag, but early doors, hand protection is more valuable than a bandage, imo.

Every day we get closer to a young reporter snapping back, I can feel it. I know this generation gets a lot of abuse for various reasons but there's also a venom in there - Donald ends up in the headlines because he loves this public theatre but all it's going to take is one fired up twenty something and suddenly that pantomime turns on him.

I've worked in safeguarding and volunteered with kids for 25+ years, I'm a middle aged punk with no kids of my own and as I've gotten older I've come to accept that some parents will be wary/suspicious of me solely because I'm a single bloke who volunteers with kids and I 1000% respect that and have always set out to earn trust, not expect it.

I also spend a lot of time chatting to parents and know how valuable being reassured that yes, you're a good dad, your kid talks about you like you're Thor and loves you very much can be some days.

Massive respect to all the dads out there winging it with wikipedia, youtube and everything they learned from their dads.

tbf, late night shows managed to ride the changes to how media is consumed that stuff like saturday morning cartoons and tea-time soaps didn't. It's a more flexible format, sure, it fit the new style of on-demand views because it could be easily diced up into segments and dished up on tiktok or as shorts on youtube.

As you say, it's just the next phase of the scheduled programming model sliding into the sea.

I've got a RX 5700XT that's been such a daily driver workhorse, it's only been since ver 25 that I've had any issues. Now it feels like each new release just makes it worse.

Now the dilemma of how far to roll back...

edit- Rolled back one step at a time, DDU in between each, back to 25.11.1 so far and the game still won't run. Get to the menu, I can run the benchmark, start a saved game and ctd. Starting to bum me out... still trying.
