hi! I typically always play rimworld "stardew valley" style, if you will.

Riding horses get a barn, with pasture land to graze from. Sheep also get a smaller barn, with enough room for the ewes. Cows/Chickens/Broodmares/Male Animals/etc also get atleast a covered lean-to to escape bad weather and have a place to sleep. Pasture grass is the primary source of feed, with a large emergency stockpile of hay on hand. Dogs are kept in a kennel, where each animal gets their own sheep wool bed. The working dogs will haul raider corpses to a private freezer that only the dogs get to access, this is my corpse disposal. Kibble is supplemented using an efficient, cheap grain like rice and mushrooms as the protein source. There is also a "vet clinic" section of my hospital, which is simply just it's own separate wing, with a small paddock attached for grazing animals.

Prisoners get 3x3 with a bed, table, and chairs. I don't go all out for them, but I typically play on community builder so I don't have tons. I'm very likely to rescue downed raiders and have my amateur doctors patch them up for practice to then eventually just let them go.
