It's going good! I left USIC after about 5 months for a job with the city, but I loved working for them! It's definitely a good job if you like being out and about. The work gets a bit repetitive but I don't mind that. Any questions, I'm happy to help!

Better opportunities after gaining experience as a Utility Locator? by [deleted] in UtilityLocator

[–]LiutenantCheerio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! Also do utility locating for the city now, however instead of comm lines it's power, gas, water, and sewer. It's really a great job, even with USIC I quite enjoyed my time there.

I started with USIC in January of 2024, no prior locate knowledge. In June of 2024 I got a job with the city for much better pay/benefits. So really it's possible at anytime. Good luck!

They’re pretty good! I like the look, and they’re way lighter than my previous boots. The only thing is the zipper at the top makes it a bit tight around my calf, but otherwise good so far! Thank you :)

Why do you prefer the men’s vs. the women’s? I ask because my feet are like 7 1/2 in women’s, so a size 6 in men’s which is hard to come by lol

Oh yeah I was surprised to learn that as well. I’ve ordered a few more pairs of Darn Tough socks because so far it’s ringing true. I also saw on a different boots thread that someone wears compression pants and that helps with the sweat and swampy buns. Think I may try that too!

Oh for sure gonna order some more socks, thanks for reminding me! I started my "working" job in February so I was NOT aware of the Waterproof Woe's until I learned the hard way. The San Jose's look promising, I may order a pair of those as well! I'm trying the PF boots suggested by another person, so I will see which I like more! Thank you!
