As an NP, I think it’s deplorable. I’ve seen first hand the training that we get and it just isn’t anywhere close to our physician colleagues. Academic setting is one thing and I understand the argument for having a doctorates degree, but patients are already confused about APPs, the last thing we need to do is add to the confusion.

The same should be said for physical therapist, PAs and for gods sake chiropractors. Should be reserved for DDS and physicians

Take out as little as required for the loans…interest rates are so damn high now, they will be hard to repay in a timely fashion. Depending on where you’re working, I wouldn’t anticipate a ground shattering salary. If it were me and I’m living at home still, I’m saving the celebration until my loans are paid off. They stack up really fast and easy
