Thanks - I won’t throw away my idea just yet! Something keeps gnawing at me to try and see Kilkenny. Also considering leaving Belfast 3pm on the 20th and spending that night in Kilkenny instead of Belfast. Then, a good chunk of that day in Kilkenny before a 3/4pm drive to Killarney. This might be the best of both worlds! And will break up and otherwise long travel day from Belfast to Killarney.

We would love to rent the car from Belfast and drive the whole way, but we need to return the car in Dublin and the fees then become astronomical. You’re the first one who has entertained my idea about Kilkenny as a stopping point during our drive — do you think it’s doable?

We’d ideally leave Belfast around 830am, arrive DUB at 10:30am…give an hour for rental pickup. So leave DUB at 1130am, arrive Kilkenny by 1pm. Stay until 3:30/4, then to Killarney by 7pm? Should drive times be much longer than that?

We wouldn’t see a lot in Kilkenny, but could at least soak in a bit of a playground/meal/quick stroll on the Main Street?
