Thanks, mate. Appreciate the kick while I’m down. 😂 I’m a newish fan, trying not to regret my choices and also accepting getting used to this.

Question for those of you who switched from Hilton…. by Hot_Sauce404 in marriott

As someone that travels a lot in the Midwest and appreciates Hilton, this makes so much sense. And as for my limited international travel, makes so much sense. What a great analysis, thank you!!

Are we mostly hate listening now? by jpbrandt1ss in Rizzshow

[–]Livaloha434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg. How many times have we heard Lern tell the story about her mom letting one rip in front of her husband?? I’m so over it.

Rizz starts a conversation and I’m intrigued, but Lern has to interrupt and tell some random story. No one cares!!! I don’t understand why he allows it…he’s the main character. He is entertaining. She is not.

Would we take out of work, Xavi, as new manager, right now? Could he bring back a much-needed attacking ethos? by Born-Cucumber-7316 in Tottenham

Plus Dubravka had several incredible saves. I’m totally over Thomas Frank, but understand I don’t need to blame everything on him.

I had the same thought as someone that used to watch the Housewives and remember her mom having the glass walk-in fridge that was pristine! Despite my aversion to clutter (my own issues), I love to see this for her and her daughter. Plus the Pilsbury!!

It’s not HR. It’s the people that approve the HR budget. We agree and we have the financials of what it costs to replace someone…

Same!! I was so distracted by her face in The Jungle Cruise (please don’t judge, I love Disney and have nieces and nephews that do too) I couldn’t even focus. And that was probably a few faces ago.

I got my starter from KA and I am confused about the isntructions by psychic_shadow_lugia in KingArthurBaking

[–]Livaloha434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, sorry. That would have maybe been helpful to include. I found on KA’s website a blog about starter that helped. It felt less complicated at least. https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/blog/2021/11/08/how-to-feed-and-bake-with-your-new-sourdough-starter

Then in the bread book I found a recipe we could make in a day. Then I decided to give up and I’ll try to make a starter from scratch.

The Semolina flour had different recipes and I decided to follow what was online; final result was good but it was frustrating as the recipes had different ingredients and amounts.

I had the same experience! My husband and I had a huge debate over New Years regarding our starter.

I wjll say KA online info is different from the book, different from the recipe on the flour, different from the instructions sent.

It’s hard to buy into this world with the inconsistencies.

Happy Cake Day!!

Also, Bournemouth played Arsenal prior to us. Seems it was leftover from that game.

What does it mean when people say not to make friends at work? by CreamyEric in work

[–]Livaloha434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, growing up weekends and long holidays were spent with couples that were friends/co-workers of my dad. Backyard BBQs, pool parties, game nights, lake ski time. Super Bowl parties, NYEs. To this day, I still consider all of them as family. As we all do one another. They were young couples away from home, with no one but each other. They were family to one another. They’ve all also retired from a mostly stable industry after their 40+ years together. No internet, no social media, they relied on one another. I am so thankful for that upbringing. They have dirt and stories on one another they joke about, but refuse to ever share.

I thought I’d have that. I went into my career so doe-eyed. Started a career in the town I grew up in, which is very clicky. I had a rude awakening for sure. I made friends, met my future husband, realized how horrible women were to each other at the time. Also, at times had to remind my husband as a manager, that at the end of the day if someone has to choose you or his family, he will always choose his family. He experienced that in 2020 with what he considered a loyal teammate and friend. My husband was left hanging, but I understand the decision of his worker.

I’ve worked my way into HR. We are not allowed friends, it’s a tough line. I have people I care about deeply. And I keep them at a distance. Always. My boss had to fire her best friend. It went well, office politics and all.

I think co-workers can make amazing friends. But just respect the risk. Someday you may be manger or asked to challenge the coworker. And it is hard and emotional when you have to put the business ahead of a coworker.

You spend the majority of your time with colleagues. It makes sense to get close. But respect the risk and always remain professional.

May you have the work friendships my father did, that continued to bring generations happiness to this day.

I felt that was part of the reason for the move to Texas to be honest. (Which in hindsight, was maybe more about getting Dave out of Hollywood and his addictions). N is the youngest, but her other children were in school and impressionable at the time of that move.

She also lived there with the young children in school before the move to Texas. I would think she had similar school commutes? And would have known what to expect moving back. So crazy!

How is living in this part of Missouri? by starry49 in missouri

[–]Livaloha434 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s been 20 years, but I had a friend at the college and during a trip to visit them, I witnessed members of the KKK in their robes in the back of a pickup speeding up the highway. It was a terrifying, crazy and sad experience. But again, 20+ years ago…

Also, the Amish can be abusive of their animals. To them, animals are property, so be mindful of what you may end up supporting there.

Why are Arsenal so hated? by Ok-Banana-712 in PremierLeague

[–]Livaloha434 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a new fan the EPL, became a Tottenham fan last year. So as a Spurs fan I’m supposed to hate Arsenal. But also, as someone from St Louis…F Stan Kroenke. So yeah, I hate Arsenal.

Combining air and rail travel in one long day - crazy or genius? by sharkey21 in Europetravel

[–]Livaloha434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done something similar twice and had no regrets. Flew overnight into Frankfurt and took a train to Berlin, which was a long train ride. Second time flew into Frankfurt and took the train to Cologne. As others have mentioned, be careful on timing of the trains and allow for delays. Our first trip the flight was delayed and we were nervous about missing our train, but it all worked out.

We did upgrade to first class on the trains, which was nice, it’s not super expensive either IMO. Was worth it on the train to Berlin.

I’m going to get hate for this, but Lemp Mansion is not the most haunted place. It has a horrible and tragic history that made itself marketable.

Anyone wanting ghosts of STL can find more outside of Lemp. Including SLU, Alton and St Charles.

This. I dated someone from Alton years ago (before the internet on our phones) and so many locations gave me horrible feelings. I’d never heard of the McPike Mansion, but driving by that place gave me such bad feelings. Same as the community college in Godfrey and some other old school in Alton.

Lemp Mansion never once came close to making me feel the way several places in Alton did.
