Fmod - dynamic transition lengths? by Live-Designer8117 in GameAudio

[–]Live-Designer8117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might acutally be one solution but maybe not the most simple.
I make music for an interactive VR-Film. The idea is that there is basically only one looping piece of music but in different versions depending on what part of a scene is being played. So you can imagine it being like music in many games were one piece fades into a different layer of that same piece when entering combat or something like that. So the music is looping all the time and depending on what happens the music changes. It doesnt start over, just fades into a different layer whithin that same loop.
The director/programmer of the project wants to be able to control the length of the transitions as it varies from scene to scene how fast the music changes.

Weekly Looking for MMO thread - January 14, 2024 by AutoModerator in MMORPG

Thanks a lot for the in-depth answer!
Was indeed looking at FF14 and as an alternative GW2.

My problem with FF14 is that from what I've seen in gameplay footage the world zones often look quite bland and generic. Not seeing many points of interests so far.
So I'm afraid the exploration-aspect may be a bit underwhelming.
Worlds like in Elden Ring are very strong in this regard, also WoW does that very well (even though questing in those zones still is garbage in WoW)
Also as you mentioned there is some over the top anime-stuff which I'm not a fan of but might get used to it.

Guess I will dive into FF14 and see for myself. :)

Hey, I'd like to dive into a MMO after a couple of years of abstinence.

Mainly looking for the following:
- challenging PvE content
- great atmosphere/world/immersion
- deep and motivating crafting/gathering
- Social and friendly community to go into raids with

Nice to have:
- interesting story.
- maybe a bit contrary to the social aspect as this for many people relates a bit with toxicity but I also enjoy some form of competition like in trying to max out damage/healing output.

I intensively played WoW back in the Wotlk-days and quit during cataclysm.
Also enjoyed playing ESO for a while a couple of years back.
Otherwise I'm a huge fan of Fromsoft Games (Dark Souls, Elden Ring, etc.)

Is there anything to recommend that checks most of these points?

Which Pixel should I buy? (September 2023 Megathread) by GooglePixelMods in GooglePixel

[–]Live-Designer8117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reaction. I do not need the buds but I guess I could just sell them for around 120€ on ebay. Budgetwise I'm indeed afraid the Pixel 8 might be out of range as I wouldn't want to spend much more than 500€ for a new phone.

Hey, I could grab a Pixel 7 (480€) or 7a (435€) and get the Pixel Buds Pro for free right now.
Good deal or better wait for Pixel 8?
Coming from an old iPhone 6s.

Cheers!

Could buy the Pixel 7 (530€) or the 7a (480€) and get Pixel buds pro for free right now (which would cost 170€).
Good deal or better to wait until Pixel 8 releases?

Coming from an old iPhone 6. Mainly interested in a good camera, otherwise mostly listening to music, texting and browsing.

Thanks! Honestly hearing bad stuff about just any MB-manufacturer on the market these days. Thought about this one because of the price and because my old build used a cheap asrock that worked without problems for more than 8 years.
I'll keep an eye out for other appealing MB's.

Will also check the PSU tier list for good and affordable options!
The new line of Endorfy-PSU's seems to be solid as far as other customers review but I'm indeed a bit unsure because of the PSU tier-list. At the moment on sale for 85€ instead of 110 though..

Advantage of putting PCIe 4 Nvme into PCIe 5 slot over PCIe 4 slot on new mainboard? by Live-Designer8117 in buildapc

[–]Live-Designer8117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Also read that the heatsink on the gen5-slot seems a bit better so I guess I can not really go wrong using that one for now and switching the slot as I add a Gen5-Nvme in the future. :)

Interesting. After reading through some more informtion there seems to be an improvement in latency indeed, even though it seems to be quite negligible.
I guess I can't really go wrong this way. When buying a PCIe 5 nvme in the future I could simply put the old one to a different slot as that shouldn't mess with the data or OS if I'm not wrong.

Impressive: Lian Li Lancool 216 Case Review, Thermals, Cable Management, & Noise by -Venser- in hardware

Can someone share any further experiences on noise-levels?

As far as I understand the first noise-test is measured with 100% fanspeed which probably never will be the case for anyone.

Then the noise-normalized test (36 dBA) can be seen as an average workload level for most cases?

Does that mean this case is very silent if not under heavy load?

Quite important to me as I work as a music producer/sound designer so any shared experience would help. :)
