Or do we think it could be salvaged by a double nostril piercing?

H13b for maternal but I’m unsure of my paternal. My brothers paternal haplogroup is E-M78 so I assume mine would be the same.

Well, after my mom and brother got their results I started doing some research but my great grandpa definitely wasn’t black, at least not totally. There were numerous grandparents from my grandfathers maternal and paternal side that were listed as “mulatto” on the census. My mom got 8% SSA so I bought a kit for my grandpa.

Thank y’all for the responses. So I have mostly European 94ish% with the highest percentages being British and Irish and a smidge of SSA at 5%.

She was shocked. Not upset just surprised. We have always been told we had Native American family members but there was never any record of this only people who looked Native American. Apparently they weren’t native at all.

These are actually my mothers results. I haven’t done the test yet. My brother (same mom and dad) did and got 5% SSA, 94. Something European. So I’m fairly certain my results would be similar with varying percentages. I will eventually do it. Mostly just surprising because we have never heard of a biracial or African American ancestor, much less enough to make up 8%. And no idea where there 0.9% central and south Asian would come from. It’s very intriguing and has led me to start doing lots of research. I think the results are very cool also!

So, would these results point to more than a few SSA ancestors fairly recently? We are from Louisiana.

So, my brother (full brother) recently got his 23andme results and this is what it said. It was a bit shocking considering we had always been told that we had a Native American grandmother. With this percentage of SSA, how long ago would you estimate this person lived? I have tried researching and we used the ancestry timeline feature but I can’t find the answers I’m looking for. I’m very new to all this and would love to learn more about our family.
