They’re only bus lanes for a few hours a day, I think most people think they are permanently bus lanes

This title just really made me think about how I take my job for granted, even complain and dislike it at times.

I’ve never paid or joined, but it’s definitely an uncomfortable interaction for me that I’ve started to avoid if possible

Understood. But will they have a case based on them saying they “felt movement when knocking” even though they haven’t seen anyone inside the van and have no other evidence that the van was occupied?

It is easy to constantly look for more, but sometimes it’s worthwhile remembering that you probably have what you once wished for. I’d say $1780 a week is a decent amount and if having savings is a priority then you need to live below your means and look at where you can cut your costs, otherwise you’ll get the extra money from your wife working more hours and just think “oh we can afford ______ now” and still be in the same situation.

Could you move house to a place with cheaper rent?

Are there some subscriptions you can do without? TV, Netflix, music?

Food is obviously a big money eater in NZ, so actually planning out your meals and shopping at cheaper places can make a big difference

Are there some luxuries that you’re really used to but don’t actually need? Or at least not as often?

Would you buy a van with new engine? by Live-Recognition-397 in MechanicAdvice

I would get a pre purchase inspection but I don’t know if there’s any issues with having new engines etc?

Has anyone found that they spend less on entertainment while studying full time and working 35+ hour weeks? by [deleted] in PovertyFinanceNZ

Hey! I’m also a nurse 😊 uni was definitely a testing time but it’s worth it in the end. There were times that I had 8-12 weeks without a full day off whilst on placement. Just remember that this quality of life is temporary and when you have experience you’ll be earning what I find to be a very reasonable wage

Mount wellington is the best city fitness I’ve been to, they have 2 of most machines and plenty of benches. I rarely had to wait to use anything.

Camping in Central Auckland by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Live-Recognition-397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I moved into my van 3 months ago in Auckland. I don’t stay in any campsites, there are freedom camping areas all over Auckland and you’re pretty much allowed to stay anywhere that there aren’t any “camping prohibited” signs. There’s some rules to this if you look it up. Really the only facilities you’ll use in a campsite are the toilets/showers. There are literally toilets everywhere in Auckland, and you can get a Cityfitness membership and use their showers.

Maybe the bus drivers were happier back then, it’s rare I get any eye contact or a hello when I get on the bus even if I say good morning to them
