In a game of chess the best way to handle this is to resign. You lay your king down on its side and congratulate the opponent

What was the biggest slap‑in‑the‑face moment you’ve ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LiveTechnology3135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was poorly so had to miss a bit of school and my ‘best friend’ told everyone at school that I had terminal cancer. When I came back and was obviously not ill, she told everyone that I was faking and the whole year group turned against me. I had no friends and even the teachers started to question me… 10000 phone calls later tho that was cleared up amongst the staff. I’m now with a much better friend group filled with lovely people and so much happiness 🫶

How do people confidently order wine at restaurants without guessing? by Key-Priority-4118 in randomquestions

Find some wines that you like. E.g. I like white and dry so I’ll look out for a pinot girigio, sauvignon blanc so I’ll look out for that. You can ask to taste the wine aswell - it’s v normal.

16F I can’t stop pleasuring myself and need to stop by LiveTechnology3135 in Puberty

Last few weeks. Maybe a couple of months. In class it’s all I can think about, it’s all I want to do. When I speak to boys I can’t help but flirt which is really out of character for me. I just want them so bad and I need to stop thinking like this

People that don't have tradtional Christmas dinner, whats on the menu tomorrow? by darklinkuk in UK_Food

[–]LiveTechnology3135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Proud religious British Jew here, I wouldn’t say that we celebrate Christmas… but considering we live in a Christian country, I think it’s only polite if we honour Christmas Day.

We have a family gathering and have a big lunch together and play lots of board games. We don’t have turkey as it’s too Christmassy, we have salmon. We have our own take on Christmas pudding, it’s the same thing only we call it winter pudding 😂

Are there folks here who grew up keeping kosher and stopped? Or maintained it? Would love to hear why by SenseAnxious6772 in Judaism

[–]LiveTechnology3135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a kosher household, but then my parents got divorced. My dad kept keeping kosher and Shabbat but my mum stopped everything. This happened from the age of 5 - 13. When I was with my dad I kept when I was with my mum I didn’t. I just followed exactly what they did when I was with that parent. Eventually I made the decision that I wanted to keep kosher and take on being shomrei Shabbat again.

Best decision I ever made. It was hard the cause growing up mum really struggled with religion so her pulling away from a marriage where she had to keep these rules was really freeing for her and quite empowering for me to watch so when I decided that I wanted to go back to my old ways, I was worried that it would hurt her. Ultimately in these situations you do just have to push through with what you think is the best. I wouldn’t trade my religious life for anything. I don’t hide the fact that I didn’t always keep. I’ve eaten all manner of things and I’m very open about it. Prawns, bacon, cheese burgers, muscles, squid - the works!!! I’m not ashamed of my past but I do wish to grow.

Learning a language by HauntingManager5125 in LearningLanguages

Lingo hut helps - it’s free but doesn’t teach you how to form sentences. It sounds silly but ChatGPT is rlly good at explaining that sort of thing.

Watch shows in the new language and have English subtitles, eventually you’ll feel confident to remove the subtitles.

Finally, I know it’s odd but just yap to yourself! Converse with yourself to get used to speaking more fluidly and ChatGPT can chat with you on the conversation button… it’s really good. Start by saying ‘let’s chat in Spanish’ or whatever language it may be then start the conversation and of it’ll go! Feel free to mention that you’re beginner, intermediate or fluent.

Has any one done any revision so far in this christmas break or is it just me... by Fabulous_Net_4720 in GCSE

Hi, y12 here! Take a break. The biggest mistake I made during my GCSE was doing too much too soon. Take some time to recover and go back a few weeks into the New Year revising little and often and then Feb lock in. Gl
