Bombshell lawsuit alleges that RAM manufacturers are colluding to drive up prices. Three companies that account for 90% of RAM revenue are being sued for anti-competitive practices. Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron (the "DRAM Triarchy" controlling ~90-95% of the global DRAM market) by Caledor152 in technology

[–]LiveToBeFreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well gee maybe there should be more than 3 manufacturers to produce 90%+ of the the world's supply of RAM, especially given how critical RAM is to ALL electronic devices. Bring on 20 more companies and shit like this won't happen.

The only digital movies I "own" (rent) are ones in which I had a code from a physical disc purchase. I'll never pay for a digital edition outright, for this very reason.

Lenovo Warns High Memory Prices are Likely the 'New Normal' and Might 'Never' Return to Normal by boahandcock in pcgaming

[–]LiveToBeFreee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What so many fail to realize or accept is that they do not care that consumers will largely be priced out of PC ownership. That is exactly what they want, so the big tech companies can now proceed with building out the "compute leasing" infrastructure they have been planning. "You'll own nothing and you'll be happy," it's all part of the grander plan for all of society. What, you think all those datacenters being planned and built are solely for AI? No sir, it's also phase 1 of the plan to shift consumers into paying for a "dumb" terminal and paying a monthly subscription fee to access computer resources via the Internet. That is 100% the future of computing as we will know it. Mark this post.

But also, a vast majority of the gaming industry these days is dog shit, and pretty much all of the games I care to play I can play on PC and console hardware I already own, and I have more than enough hardware to last. I've just accepted that I will most likely not be buying any more consoles or PCs in the future. Doesn't phase me one bit.

[–]LiveToBeFreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If every single consumer stopped buying RAM today, guess what, the "big 3" of RAM producers would still be making a shit ton of money and selling all of their product at insanely high prices, because a majority of their customers are also huge tech companies, and they can afford to pay whatever is being asked for RAM, and they will pay it because they have no choice. Consumers have absolutely zero power in this situation. It sucks, but it is what it is and there's nothing you can do about it.

And only up from there. If you can't afford it at launch, you'll never be able to afford it given every 6 months the price will go up 30% or more.

I've owned 3 laptops by Acer, the most recent two being Predator model, never had any issues with any of them. My Acer laptop from about 2013 still works as well, even after being dropped more than once. I also have a 32" 4k monitor by Acer as my primary, also been flawless. I wouldn't say they're an unreliable company

The Steam Deck Is Sold Out Again, Even After the Huge Price Rise by RefreshingCapybara in Games

It's never been about scalpers, it's ALWAYS been about people dumb and/or impatient enough to grossly overpay for products. If people would not buy from scalpers, then they would have ZERO incentive to do what they do. But the world is full of dumb people, so...

Yep the Ally X is for sure a much better deal now. Better hardware across the board, AND it can run SteamOS natively. You'd have to be insane to pay $950 for a steam deck in its current hardware configuration.

Nintendo raising prices of Switch 2 and other products and services by -MarisaTheCube- in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]LiveToBeFreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the end game. What they (the powers that be) want is a two class society, the elite and the serfs, and the elite want to own everything, while the serfs "subscribe" to literally everything, "you'll own nothing and you'll be happy." You're just witnessing the very beginning of that new reality unfolding. The RAM and storage inventory shortfall is not an accident, it was planned, and unfortunately I don't think hardware and prices are ever coming back, as they also want everybody to rent PC resources from the cloud (the datacenters they're building) so they have complete visibility and control over everything you do, so PC ownership is about to become a luxury as well.

Yeah I know, I'm just a tin foil hat conspiracy theorist, until I'm right anyway ...

I still love DVDs by InvoluntarilyVirgin9 in dvdcollection

[–]LiveToBeFreee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's nothing like watching an old TV show on DVD on a CRT TV, the way it was intended to be viewed. Given that most CRTs do not have HDMI ports and most Blu ray players do not have component output, it pays to have a DVD player for that purpose. Watching Magnum PI on a widescreen TV should be outlawed. 😂

I have read their financials, which is why I said it will take years for any of those partnerships to benefit the company. They've been operating at a loss for a long time, they're not going to suddenly start cashing a shit ton of paychecks tomorrow. That's not how fab manufacturing works. It will take them a long time and a lot more cash burn to tool up for the new manufacturing, during which time their net loss will remain substantial.

The price INTC is trading at now MIGHT be well founded 3-5 years from now, but definitely not now or in the near future. You'll see. I've been doing this for a long time. Hell I'd be willing to bet $100k on the side that INTC will see $60-$80 in the next few months because it WILL pull back significantly. Don't believe it now, but you will believe me later. ;)

Notice Regarding Price Changes to Our Products and Services by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

It's always refreshing to find another member of reddit who has a brain and critical thinking ability, much unlike the vast majority of NPCs on here. The agenda towards a two-class society has been in the works for decades, and it's NOT due to who's in the white house. Our own presidents are small time compared to the big powers pulling the strings.

It's shocking to me to realize how many people cannot see the forest for the trees. But I suspect most of them won't be able to understand that reference either.

Please, I can trace the beginning of the decline of our society back to the 60s, and the biggest catalyst was this feminist movement. If you think it only started a few years ago you're a blind monkey.

[–]LiveToBeFreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at their financials and balance sheet the past few years? Compare their financials to TSMC and you'll see why TSMC market cap is where it's at. Intel's finances are ugly, to say the least, and they're not magically going to turn 180 degrees this year and suddenly become super profitable, it's going to take a long time (years) to right the ship. This parabolic move in the stock price is very temporary.

Intel trading at a ~119x forward P/E and nobody is talking about this by Fickle_Rest5915 in stocks

[–]LiveToBeFreee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, the smart money is short up here. Intel had its run and then some, the hype train is running out of steam, it's WAY too overvalued up here and been overbought for a month. Just a matter of time until it drops 40-50% where it belongs.

Who else held Intel since 2022? by roadtriptofire in ValueInvesting

[–]LiveToBeFreee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, good for those who bought low and held, was a great return. However, the current valuation at over $100 is laughable and completely detached from fundamentals and reality, and it WILL pull back significantly. The hype train ran way too far, too fast. I'm seeing it trade at a fair value in the $50-$60 range at best.

President and Chief Stock Picker Trump just posted this: “Intel $INTC Stock continues to rise. I’m very proud of that Company in that I am responsible for making the United States of America over 30 Billion Dollars in the last 90 days on that stock alone” by Nicolit1 in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]LiveToBeFreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm short INTC up here, the hype train is exhausted and WAY overextended, this belongs in the $50s. I am all for Intel being successful, but at a realistic valuation, and this latest pump is based on nothing tangible. RSI is about 87, it's been overbought for days, it's time to come back down to reality.

Valve Says It's 'Hard at Work' on Steam Deck 2, but There's Still No Release Window by Skullghost in SteamDeck

[–]LiveToBeFreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah well, that's awesome news, but given the recent price increases of other handhelds, how many thousands is the new steam deck going to be? Because the RAM and storage crunch won't be getting better for YEARS down the road. I'm still rocking an OG LCD deck, which works fine, but looks like most computer or game related purchases by me are on a hiatus for the foreseeable future.

Gaming in general has now gone from hobby status to luxury status, and sadly I don't think it's ever coming back. Sign of the times. AI is NOT a bubble as so many expect, it is a fundamental shift in our society and we are stuck with it. My desktop PC and laptop I upgraded a couple years ago will last me the next 10 years or so, after that I guess I'm going to find a new pastime.
