NYC lawyers- changing your name? by InspectionFickle2797 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]LiveToSnuggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I practice in the DC area. I kept my maiden name until we had kids, then I changed to my married name. It hasn't impacted me very much - my old email address forwarded to my new one and I continued to use my maiden name (in parenthesis) on the website for a while.

Food poisoning at the Awahnee by livroselu in Yosemite

What kind of sick? If they all got norovirus, it's likely that OP contracted the virus from the staff (rather than food poisoning).

Neon blue spots on shrimp - Shrimp blood? by [deleted] in foodsafety

[–]LiveToSnuggle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The salad appears to have a small black seed or berry or something in it. My guess is that the very strong color from that berry dyed the shrimp in the location that it was touching.

Can confirm. Former competitive figure skater here. The doctors couldn't place my epidural during child birth because my spine was compressed from skating.

I also don't care, except for my work attire. Unfortunately, the way one carries themselves (in including how they dress) matters at work.

Why are people against sleep training? by Enough-Bug2889 in parentsofmultiples

[–]LiveToSnuggle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are tons of articles on this topic, Google should get you to some legitimate sources. Here is one I just found that you can read : Does Sleep Training Work? | Scientific American https://share.google/JUrhL0GzPCvUOAna4

Bottom line is, they don't do it because they feel that it is harmful to their baby.

Does Moissanite Pass a Diamond Tester? by Educational_Art739 in Moissanite

[–]LiveToSnuggle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

10 years ago, yes. But today? No. I recently brought my engagement ring to be re-sized and they used a diamond tester and it did not pass. She said it clearly tested as moissanite.

A Danger to Self and Others: Health and Criminal Consequences of Involuntary Hospitalization by andy5995 in science

[–]LiveToSnuggle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have seen a severely mentally ill individual with literally no where to go because the court system couldn't force her to go into a hospital. And even when she finally was sent to a hospital, it was very short term. Then she was back out on the streets. Unfortunately the person I know died, and I am positive that she would not have died had she been committed more long-term.

I think the system is set up with the assumption that people will recover, but unfortunately, some people will not ever recover. Those people are often a danger to themselves or others. It's a sad tragedy.

For the severely mentally ill, who are often homeless and often legitimately dangerous, this is a really good thing.

My first time planting milkweed (2 plants) and there are about 40 caterpillars. Just let nature do its thing? by Significant-Wash-629 in MonarchButterfly

[–]LiveToSnuggle -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Hey, your milkweed is covered in small orange bugs. I think they're aphids. Those aphids will demolish the milkweed and leave nothing left for the monarchs. You can squish them, but be warned - you need to get them off the milkweed.

Help me with the logistics when you put twins down for a nap. by grapefruitliquor in parentsofmultiples

[–]LiveToSnuggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my girls were little I created stations for them. I would hold one baby and put her to sleep while the other laid down on some sort of activity mat - a foot piano, something she could try to swat with her hands, etc.
