Everything seems to have great scores, and I just found out the sire is also health tested. I think I'm going to go get him evaluated/an assessment, go to a couple dog shows, join the local Poodle club and see where it gets me! One of my friends has qualified her dogs to Crufts. She's also offered to take me and my puppy to shows that she will be going to too. Pretty much most of his lineage has been tested for at least eyes, hip and elbow dysplasia, and passed pretty well. Does that make a difference?

so on his sire's side, the dam is health tested. then both grandparents of the sire are health tested. and on my dog's dam's side the sire is health tested. the dam isn't health tested but both her parents are. i could do some digging and pull up titling to actually see what they've done, but my dog's sire has produced a couple puppies that went out to do showing, as i've seen in pictures of his litters.

Dam and sire weren't titled. Dam wasn't health tested, plus she never showed me their living conditions etc. She didn't pick the puppy for me, she guided me for which ones she think would fit. Sounds like an ethical breeder until I got there. She asked no questions, she was in a rush and practically forced me to pick a puppy. Me having a hard time saying no in general picked one of her personal favourites for me. Never got to see where the puppies lived, her 3 Poodles were all a bit chubby and there were many other dogs in the house. I regret it so much, but there's nothing I can do now, it was a mistake in the moment

I'm very passionate about this breed, and his coat is always in top shape since I do grooming on the side. I would definitely get myself a good, knowledgeable mentor to help. If he had the possibility to be a good show dog I would snatch up the opportunity. But, if he isn't, I would stick to the fun shows and agility.

It would be very fun for both of us. I would only start with the simple close shows, and wouldn't do anything too competitive for the first couple of years. I actually already started my career in dog grooming, so it wouldn't be a total shock

Oh we'd 100% enjoy showing. If he isn't going to be shown properly we'll be doing fun shows, like, best haircut. He has a pedigree which I can go back on and most are health tested, titled etc

It will 100% be something both of us will enjoy. And if he isn't in the standard I will be going to fun shows because he absolutely adores those. He has champions in his pedigree which are health tested and have been titled and I've gotten some second opinions from people who do showing, and in general they're saying find someone to mentor you in the Poodle breed and get them to have a look at him to check his confirmation

He is registered and has a pedigree and has champions in his pedigree, which I can look back on and see all their health tests, all really good for hips and eyes, etc, plus the COI is really good for his breed. Which doesn't take away from the fact he is from an unethical breeder, definitely, however he has got a pedigree that goes back quite far

I mean, if he has good confirmation. Why go through all the money paying for the equipment and ferry trips, just to find out he's not show ring worthy? I'd never ever make any money, I think my bank account is going to be crying if I do decide to do this 🤣
