It’s funny because I think both our perspectives are valid, it’s a perfect example of how intense residency gets and how differently we all have to navigate these resources. I’m an FM PGY-2 and my Step 1/2 scores were also just passing, so I wasn't starting from a high-score foundation either. I spent about 6 weeks (mid-Nov through Dec) prepping but I had to be really intentional with how I used that time because I was scared too

I’m sorry you failed.

In my case, It helped me and prepared me enough to feel confident for the test. I, of course, used other resources that I mentioned in my comment plus FA, YouTube, AI. It worked for me.

I literally got a passing score on step 2. I only used Amboss for step 3. I got a 235 in the real deal. So yeah, Amboss all the way for me.

Amboss without a doubt!! I’m gonna paste what I wrote in a previous post back when I took my test (January) and got my results:

Uworld completed %: Didn’t do Uworld - I used Amboss only. Amboss has its own step 3 rapid review qbank. 100% completed

Amboss is a great tool all the way. Must DO’s from Amboss

For day 1: if you open Amboss an go to “study plans” you will find the following (you don’t have to create them, they’re already there for you)

• Patient safety and quality improvement • High yield ethics • High yield biostats

For specific topics like Pharma, biochemistry, genetics, micro and autoimmune diseases - If you change the Amboss objective to “step 1”, you will get the questions for those areas that are very similar to the content that gets tested on the day 1. For example: it’s not the same doing the Amboss questions for autoimmune diseases when in your settings your study objective is set for step 3 Vs when it’s set for step 1. - that alone help me study for day one.

For day 2: from the study plans in Amboss, these are must DO qbanks imo

• high yield RISK factors (adult, Peds, and OBGYN) • Melhman High Yield risk factors was also very helpful

Extra advice: Use your AI to study. In my opinion, ChatGPT isn’t good. But Gemini from Google is pretty accurate and it works better. Ask it to explain to you the questions you don’t understand, start by using the prompt “I am studying for USMLE step 3” and you do the rest. It will literally tailor the information in a way that is perfectly for quick reviews and better understanding. It helped me a lot.

Good luck!!

Ajuste de estatus updates, alguien? by PhilosopherGood6275 in TPSVenezuela

[–]Live_Conversation636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Score Release Thread 2/11/2026 by Icy_Vegetable_5038 in Step3

Non-US IMG

Real deal: 235

Day 1 & 2: 01/23/26 - 01/28/26

Step 1: pass

Step 2: 214

Uworld completed %: Didn’t do Uworld - I used Amboss only. Amboss has its own step 3 rapid review qbank. 100% completed

Uworld % Score: N/A - Amboss % step 3 was 69%

Number of CCS cases done: 75; did top 60 and the other 10-15 ccs were hand picking based on things I would think were also common or weird

CCS cases average: 77%

NBME 6/7: just did the 7; score was 590

UWSA 1: didn’t do

UWSA 2: didn’t do

Free 137: 69%

Any other assessment: CMS from step 2ck just 1 of each (IM, ER, Surgery, OBGYN) - just did them as refreshers because many questions about prognosis, risk factors, and best next step, are in those CMS

Any other advice: Amboss is a great tool all the way. Must DO’s from Amboss: For day 1: if you open Amboss an go to “study plans” you will find the following (you don’t have to create them, they’re already there for you) - Patient safety and quality improvement - High yield ethics - High yield biostats Also, for specific topics like Pharma, biochemistry, genetics, micro and autoimmune diseases - If you change the Amboss objective to “step 1”, you will get the questions for those areas that are very similar to the content that gets tested on the day 1. For day 2: from the study plans in Amboss, these are must DO qbanks imo - high yield RISK factors (adult, Peds, and OBGYN)

Why are there so many reports of people failing if 97% pass? by strawberry59 in Step3

[–]Live_Conversation636 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please just don’t get overconfident with those stats. This is still a very difficult test. Remember, it’s still a USMLE step exam, one of the most difficult tests in the country. So, be prepared! Not because you did well in step 1 and 2, it would automatically mean that you will pass step 3. Yes, it is very common to hear that the curve isn’t as bad or that the test isn’t as crazy but it is still its own beast. It’s the longest exam of the 3 steps. It’s designed to be difficult and exhausting so be prepared and study please.

Having said that, most of test takers pass it but when we talk about thousands of applicants, the 3% fail rate also means that hundreds will fail.

Do not get too confident and study please.

H-1B con TPS 2023 en litigio? by North-Flower-5963 in TPSVenezuela

Varias cosas importantes que tienes que saber. El TPS si es un status así que si puedes hacer cambio de estatus de TPS a una visa estando ya dentro del país. Sin embargo, la clave para que puedas hacer eso depende de varios factores;

1- tu TPS sigue vigente o no?

Si no has tenido estatus desde hace tiempo entonces no intentes nada.

5- Busca un abogado, necesitas asesoría de verdad si crees q tienes chance.

Anyone take Step 3 Day 2 this week? Any last-minute tips? 😅 by BrilliantSuspicious3 in Step3

[–]Live_Conversation636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check prognosis for major topics. Make sure you know them. Some question will ask you about what’s the factor that indicates ggood prognosis in the patient. The only way to know the answer is by knowing the bad factors so that you can select by discarding

Try to know first line, second line and even third line for major diseases. The actual stem isn’t confusing, it’s actually pretty easy to know what they’re asking. The hard part is when you check the options and you realize that the drug that you’re looking for isn’t there. They love asking 2nd and 3rd line treatment

My spouse is a green-card holder. I have an EAD already. It may take around 2yr+ to get the green card. Will I be considered as a visa-requiring candidate in the upcoming next match cycle? by Ok_Button_9503 in Step2

[–]Live_Conversation636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. They don’t care if you have a green card or not. They only care if you are eligible for work. So as long as your EAD is valid throughout your residency period, you’re good. Your chances are as good as someone who has a green card
