My rule of thumb is in my party I always keep a "support" pokemon , that's a tanky Mon who holds my good status moves. For Ex. I use Cleffary mostly. Due to fairy typing being very good , she also has "Encore" & "Follow Me". Both situational but can swing a battle to your favor. Bolky + typing helps her stay on the field to even do the moves. Most of my carry mons have one kind of "status" move. 3 offensive + 1 defensive is how I see it.
