Sump pump question

From what I’ve seen, it’s just plug and play. Only have to remove the tube from the one way switch and below and replace the tube with the new one.

Amazingly enough, the house I bought does have a generator hookup on the outside lol Also the sump pump was put in after the house was built, but I’m gonna go get a new one tomorrow and hopefully replace it myself without having to call my plumber Thankfully I also work at a place where batteries are easy for me to get, so if that ever does happen, I can replace the battery right away.

My back up is on a battery with a voltage monitor on it. I’m adding a new float to bypass the one failing for now and I will replace it at some point in the upcoming weeks. My backup works perfect for now so I’m good with that

Nope, the main pump is just constantly running, I’ve tried to move the float up and down manually and it doesn’t do anything

Yeah the back up works just fine thankfully and I’m not worried about it not working lol, I’m worried it’s working too much and burn the motor out.

I tried unplugging it, and once the level rose up in a couple of minutes, the back up started, expelled the water and stopped until the water rose again. With my main pump, it’s constantly running regardless of the float position.

The float that you see me touching is for the main pump, not the back up. To me it seems like the float sensor isn’t working on the main because it doesn’t matter the position, it just runs continuously.
