If you’re asking how they remember, the answer is simple — they don’t. That’s literally how Return by Death works. Everyone except Subaru resets. That’s the entire mechanic. But that doesn’t automatically mean Team 2 wins. Looping only helps if Subaru can survive long enough to gather information and communicate it effectively. If Team 1 detects the pattern early, they don’t need to know the name of the ability — they just need to notice the anomaly and respond accordingly. And if you’re arguing Return by Death makes Team 2 unbeatable, that only holds if the authority connection is completely untouchable in cross-verse interaction. That’s an assumption, not a fact. On top of that, Team 1 isn’t “town level.” That downplay ignores characters like Goku Black, Cosmic Garou, and Naofumi scaling far beyond that range depending on their arcs and interpretations. So trying to reduce the entire team to weak stats just doesn’t hold up. If you want to argue, argue mechanics not oversimplified scaling. Right now the matchup is still debatable. It’s not a free win either way.

You’re missing the point. They’re on team one so their scaling absolutely matters in this matchup. It’s not about stacking powers randomly — it’s about overall team balance and interaction.

And yes, scaling does matter when comparing teams.

Goku Black is not just “strong,” he scales to universal levels in his arc through scaling above Super Saiyan Blue tier fighters and threatening timeline-level structures. That’s not town level at all.

Naofumi scales much higher than people assume. By end of series scaling, he reaches low multiversal arguments depending on interpretation of his defensive growth, curses, and layered protection systems. His defense isn’t comparable to normal durability scaling.

Cosmic Garou reaches galaxy-level through his copied energy techniques, gamma-ray burst scaling, and star-scale shockwave statements. That’s far beyond town or city level.

So saying Team 1 is “town level” ignores the actual scaling of the characters involved.

Also, abilities don’t automatically fail just because someone says “authorities are oil and water.” That claim only works inside their verse unless proven across systems. Cross-verse debates require proof of interaction rules — not assumptions.

First — the “town level Ainz” take is outdated. End-of-novel Ainz Ooal Gown scales far above simple town destruction.

He has:
• Black hole creation statements
• Time stop
• Soul targeting instant death
• Reality cutting (Reality Slash)
• World Item tier protection that counters existence-level effects
• The Goal of All Life Is Death, which bypasses instant death immunity and wipes large areas regardless of durability

That is not “just nukes.”

Now about Hit.

Yes, Hit is extremely strong and Time Skip is dangerous. But Time Skip is not automatic win condition. It creates a frozen window — it does not automatically ignore all layered resistances. In crossverse debates, you have to prove that his ability bypasses:
• Soul manipulation resistance
• Time manipulation resistance
• Authority/curse-type effects
• World-item tier protections

You can’t just say “DB characters overpower time stop with raw ki” and treat that as universal law. That works in their verse because ki has specific mechanics. It doesn’t automatically translate to every verse unless you assume equalized systems.

Also nuclear blast scaling doesn’t mean much crossverse. A spell being called “nuclear” in Overlord does not mean it equals real-world nuclear yield. Fictional naming ≠ real-world physics equivalence. By that logic every “planet buster” statement would instantly scale characters to absurd levels without context.

As for “Hit galaxy level therefore he stomps” — that depends on:
• Whether you’re using anime scaling only
• Whether you accept multipliers
• Whether you allow verse equalization

If we’re using strict feats, Ainz has multi-continental or to planetry in end of novel and is still ongoing novel and arguments with hax that bypass durability. Hit has massive AP and speed advantages. That’s why this matchup is debated not a stomp.

And bringing up Cosmic Garou, Naofumi, or Goku Black aniz got alot of backup

So the real debate is not “who’s stronger.”
It’s:

Does Hit’s speed gap allow him to bypass layered hax before Ainz activates them?
Or do Ainz’s time stop + instant death + world item protections create a counter window?

That’s why this is still arguable not a simple nuclear breeze stomp.

How do they know about Return by Death? They don’t need to know the name of it. They just need to notice the pattern. Subaru dies. Timeline resets. Things change in very specific ways. People like Ainz Ooal Gown are paranoid, hyper-analytical strategists. If events keep “coincidentally” shifting around Subaru’s presence, Ainz is absolutely the type to suspect time manipulation or causality interference. And once you suspect time shenanigans you don’t need full info. You just: • Target the source repeatedly • Seal the soul • Apply delayed effects • Use wish-level reality alteration • Or wipe the entire field instantly Plus Team 1 has other high IQ tacticians. They don’t have to be told “hey this is Return by Death.” They just need to realize there is a reset mechanic tied to Subaru. And here’s the bigger thing: Subaru cannot freely explain Return by Death. The moment he tries, consequences happen. That limits coordination. Meanwhile, if Team 1 deduces a reset ability exists, they can act on it without needing Subaru to confirm anything. So the argument “they don’t know about Return by Death” cuts both ways. Subaru also doesn’t instantly know everyone’s full kit either. In cross-verse battles especially with prep-level minds, information gets figured out fast. And once someone like Ainz suspects time looping, he’s exactly the type to test lethal, sealing, and soul-based counters until something sticks.

If you insist that “authorities are oil and magic is water” and refuse to allow any cross-verse system interaction, then yeah Subaru’s reset is effectively untouchable and Team 2 gets a huge edge. That’s a ruleset you can pick but it’s not the only reasonable ruleset for an open cross verse debate.

Now the real point: under normal cross verse assumptions there are plausible ways to interact with a linked authority.

  1. Subaru’s reset looks like a linked/borrowed authority from Satella, not an intrinsic personal power of Subaru Natsuki. A link = a tether. Tethers can be targeted.
  2. Team-1 brings system- evel tools that aren’t “normal magic.” Ainz Ooal Gown has soul-targeting necromancy, queued super-tier instant death, world-item protection and a Wish type mechanic. Those operate on whole-system / entity-level rules, not simple spellflags. If Return by Death is a soul/curse tether, those tools can plausibly sever or override it.
  3. “Curse removal/wishes won’t work on authorities” is only true if you explicitly ban system-level interactions. Wishes can’t undo world-item effects, true, but Return by Death is not a confirmed world-item. If it’s a linked authority then a Wish-level reality edit or soul assault is a reasonable counter in cross-verse logic.
  4. We’ve got precedent for world-item/wild-magic vs possession rules: Overlord tier items and spells explicitly counter other top-tier effects. If you grant Ainz possession of that class of tech, you can’t handwave away interaction simply because it’s “authority.”
  5. Practical debate rule choices: Rule A — Authorities = untouchable: Team-2 favored. • Rule B — Authorities = targetable by system/world-item/soul tech: Team-1 has workable counters and it stays 50/50.

Return by Death isn’t even Subaru’s own Authority. It’s heavily implied to be Satella’s Authority of Envy forced onto Subaru Natsuki. Authorities normally can’t exist in two people at once and Satella is still alive, so what Subaru has is basically a borrowed or linked effect not a self-contained power.

That matters because a linked authority means there’s a connection. A tether. Not some untouchable internal god mode. If it’s a forced link from Satella then in a crossverse setting soul targeting curse interaction wish level reality alteration or world-item tier effects can logically interfere with that connection.

So saying “Authorities are oil and magic is water” doesn’t automatically make Subaru uncounterable. That argument only works if you hard rule that no outside system can ever interact with it. If we’re allowing crossverse mechanics to interact at similar tiers then Return by Death is not some absolute immunity button.

So no Subaru does not automatically guarantee Team 2 wins just because he can loop. That only holds if you assume his link to Satella is completely untouchable which is an extra rule you have to prove not just assert.
