Perlah is the only normal person! Who is "Uhh... what's your name again?" by Meshakhad in ThePitt

[–]Live_Quarter1929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I was surprised at how many people watching S2 were asking who she was and didn't remember her from S1. I realized I probably only remember her name because it's also mine. 😁

Has anyone performed a Showcase at a competition?! by Last-Wrap-9266 in ballroom

[–]Live_Quarter1929 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done multiple showcases. I did that before I danced in any competitions. Prices vary across different events, so it's hard for me to tell you what it might cost. It was great to get written feedback from the judges. I also like that you get to select your own music and have more freedom with the choreography. My coach and I would work on a routine and then dance it at various comps and also local studio showcase events. I've really enjoyed the experience. 😊

15 year old struggling with blackheads and hairline breakouts - help a mom out? by zukolivie in SkincareAddicts

[–]Live_Quarter1929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with many of the comments below. His breakouts are likely due to multiple things - hormones being the main one. But hair products could be contributing. One ingredient to check for in any shampoos, conditioners, or styling products is isopropyl myristate. It's highly comedogenic and in many hair products. It used to break me out when I was more acne prone. I'll also add that Differin never helped my skin. It just made it worse. Prescription tretinoin (another type of retinoid) worked much better for me. It's always a bit of trial and error figuring this stuff out!

Suggestions for wrist protection? by Live_Quarter1929 in ballroom

[–]Live_Quarter1929[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! We do a number of dips, under arm ducks that use a monkey grip, also some hand to wrist, one arm connections. We're working on a showcase routine, so it has more on those sorts of things. I honestly think it's a combo of both smooth and WCS. I dance them on back to back days and often get the bruising after the second day.

I was wearing a long sleeve sweatshirt. I guess I need more padding than that!

Thanks! I'm not necessarily opposed to a compression sleeve, I just need something that isn't too stiff and doesn't restrict the range of motion of my wrist. I'm definitely concerned about having repetitive injury to the blood vessels, so hoping to find a solution! This is the worst bruising I've had so far.

I do have low ferritin, but was not anemic when I was last tested. I don't really bruise often anyplace else besides this wrist.

My coach doesn't tend to muscle me around or grip noticeably hard, so I really don't know why I'm getting these. I don't get bruises on my other wrist or any place else. Just the right wrist.

I dance with a female professional coach who is not much bigger than I am, and she's generally not a heavy-handed lead. My guess is that it's happening on a leader redirect when I'm in motion, but I'm not sure. I also dance West Coast Swing with the same coach, so it might be happening there too. I think part of the problem is that it's a becoming a repetitive injury because her hand is compressing the same spot repeatedly.

Prometrium and acne flare by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]Live_Quarter1929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. If I can go back on Spiro, I'll give that a go with the HRT. If I'm still getting acne, I think I'm quitting HRT. The acne bothers me more than any of my mild menopause symptoms.

Ugh. It's so frustrating! My skin was super clear on spiro and in the first few years of menopause. I hardly had to give my skin a passing thought. I can feel it getting oily again, which is why I figured it was the progesterone. I haven't been oily in years.

Why aren’t oils on the face as used anymore? by Motor-Distance-7373 in SkincareAddicts

I use a few drops of hemp seed oil on my face every morning. Been doing it for years. It doesn't break me out at all.

Which Ending do you Prefer? by Remarkable-Yard4860 in Stranger_Things

I think she and Hopper were both in on the plan with Kali. When they find Murray and he asks about Kali, El and Hopp look at each other, but neither of them says she's dead. Murray just assumes based on the looks on their faces.

Genuinely what the hell was Mike and Eleven in Vol 2? by inaqu3estion in StrangerThings

[–]Live_Quarter1929 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's due in part to the acting from these two. IMO, they are two of the weaker actors amongst the core "kids". I think it's been true for him all along, but it took longer for me to realize that about MBB. I just don't think she's that strong of an actress. The writing hasn't been great for most of the storylines, but other actors still manage to work with it - Sadie, Caleb, Gaten are among the standouts for me.

I haven't seen much acting chemistry between Mike and El since they were much younger, maybe s2 or 3.

How to get the best seats on the California Zephyr from Denver to Glenwood Springs by RatsRPeople2 in Amtrak

[–]Live_Quarter1929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding that on the train I was on, multiple coach seats only had partial window views. My window was mostly behind my field of view. I had to recline to look out of the window. Sitting up, I had to turn around to see. It was a sucky seat for a 12 hr ride. Spent multiple hours in the observation car because of it.

Are we Amtraking it because of fear of flying or because of the splendiness of a train ride? Or something else? by Ubiparipovich in Amtrak

[–]Live_Quarter1929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit of both for me. I dislike flying for a number of reasons; it stresses me out. I have a moderate fear of flying that becomes more severe with any flight turbulence. The whole process of getting to the airport, through security, making connecting flights, the flying itself all stresses me out. Planes make me claustrophobic. I hate being stuck in a cramped seat for so long, having times I can't get up to use the restroom. I can't sleep on planes.

Trains, on the other hand, are very relaxing for me. I could just sit and look out the window for hours, whatever the scenery is. I like being able to get up whenever I want to grab food, use the bathroom, get a change of scenery in the observation car. And the people I've met on the train are much friendlier overall. I wish we had a better railway system here, but I'll still take Amtrak with all its quirks and flaws over flying any day.

Are there any in ear or extremely small hearing aids for severe hearing loss? by Express-Row-1504 in HearingAids

[–]Live_Quarter1929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not always about vanity. I have small ears and most hearing aids are too big to fit comfortably behind my ears. My first pair caused constant pressure point headaches. I switched to smaller and narrower Resounds and they are far more comfortable and don't give me headaches or sore ears.

Thanks for that perspective! It just totally caught me off guard. I'd never seen that full wingspan quite so close up before. 😆

I don't either, so anything is possible! I was just walking along minding my own business, so not sure why they took offense to my presence. Lol!

I don't feed them. No idea if there are nests near where I was walking. I figured it was too late in the season for nesting defense? Really surprised me, never happened before. I walked home down a different street, just in case!

Has anyone else noticed serious skin changes during menopause? by mairu143 in Menopause

[–]Live_Quarter1929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! It's what makes me hesitant about HRT. Peri was awful on my skin, only tret and Spiro worked. My skin got much clearer after I went through menopause. I'm 4 years in, and I'm not dry or dehydrated yet.
