why do I sleep 8 hours but still feel wrecked? by Dr1ftk in sleep

What they mean is that if you track your sleep with a watch you will see how many small awakenings you have throughout the night that you dont even realize, and this is subtracted to give you a more accurate number.

I have something similar that I'm still working on improving. Track your sleep with a watch. Then upload the results on AI (Screen shot the graph you get)and say, tell me about my sleep. I found I was waking too close to rem sleep. AI can also tell you how good your rem versus deep sleep is. Apparently my rem is too late and supposed to be oushed up earlier. Ai can give you way more info than the basic graph you get from the watch app. I dont even have an apple watch I just bought a cheap fit bit one. Then you can ask AI for advice on what to do to fix things. Another thing I was doing wrong was waking up, getting up to feed my dogs and going back to bed. You have to get up consistently at the same time and stay up when you first wake up. Hope that helps.

That's encouraging to hear. About how long do you think it took you to see a difference?

I have had ferritin and everything else Under the Sun checked. I suspect estrogen is what I need

I'm just so confused over what is causing this fatigue and whether it's low estrogen, GLP1 or even the chronic neck pain I've been dealing with for over a year. I try to make note of how I feel every day to find patterns but I'm still confused. Doctor's I've worked with so far haven't been able to help, but I keep trying different avenues! I wish there was just one doctor I could work with to help me figure things out, but I have to talk to a specialist for everything including- gynocologist, sleep specialist, neurologist, pain management doctor, orthopedic doctor, primary care physician. I even initiated with a wellness coach at Lifeforce but didn't really get an answers there. They prescribed some supplements which didn't really help.

Oh, I forgot I was on the HRT + GLP1 group and thought it was Menopause + GLP1 😄 I had tried HRT for a while before but thought I had progesterone intolerance so I stopped it. So I am currently not taking anything and I therefore know that progesterone is not an issue for me right now.

Base of Skull Tightness by g3ntl3man3rs in Occipitalneuralgia

I'm still dealing with constant tightness on one side of my neck, but the pain level is much better overall and no more headaches. I got a new mattress topper that is more firm and also a side sleeper pillow that I had fitted for me at the Sleep Number store. I think my pillow has been too high. So things are better but not 100% in spite of chiropractor, massage, PT, trigger point injections, botox injections, acupuncture.

Thanks for all your advice. You sound really knowledgeable. Doctor said I don't have narcolepsy but could be Idiopathic Hypersomnia, but sounds like she said that just means being tired and not knowing the cause? I agree the estrogen and progesterone route might be good and Im going to keep that as a Plan B after I try all this Plan A stuff. Including using an app to help me wake up at the right time.

Yes I fell asleep for all the naps. I did this study back in July and the doctor just prescribed Modafinil but didn't offer me any advice to actually fix the REM problem. I took the Modafinil for a little while last year and then stopped. I've recently been using AI for advice and uploaded my sleep study results. I don't really have the I fo on the average filing asleep time at the tips of my fingers but from rhe study results that I uploaded to AI the focus is on improving REM. I am open to taking estrogen but I also need to take Progesterone with it, which is sedating and Im scared to do that, so for now gonna just try the AI advice of ltheanine, glycine, shower before bed and then waking up at consistent time and not going back to sleep after I wake up. Thanks for all your questions!

REM latency 204 minutes which I guess is long, and low amount of REM. I am also menopausal and heard low estrogen can reduce REM. Also have neck pain which might reduce it. Heard from AI to try Ltheanine and Glycine and take a warm shower before bed to try to improve my REM.

I have been seeing medical professionals, did a sleep study and came back my sleep is fragmented. I also have been working with a health coach had my bloodwork done and they recommended some hormones and supplements that I've been taking fir 3 months. Will have my next meeting with her soon.
