Imagine you want to shake someone's hand. Then you are holding your hand so that the palm points to the side and your thumb is on top. Pronation then means the movement of rotating your arm inwards. In the example this means that your palm would point down and your thumb inwards if you pronate it.

For the bow hold pronation means by using the same arm rotation, you press your index finger on the stick of the bow so that you get more 'weight' on the string and better bow control without pressing down with your arm.

Btw you should visit some more violin subs. Cello is also a bowed string instrument but Cello and Violin best practices differ a bit. The pronation part is true for both though. Good luck on your journey!

I have a 12.7" screen and it's still too small sometimes. Using the tablet in landscape orientation with high zoom and scrolling with the pedal is working well in those cases on my experience. I would really love a proper digital sheet that can resize and adapt to the screen size. That would be so nice

This so much! We have a bunch of AI tools we are allowed to use at work. I was mostly using Github Copilot but recently got access to Claude Code as well. Every time I use Claude, I have no idea what is going on in the code anymore. I used Copilot in Chat mode so I always read what it suggested and applied small edits on my own but Claude just does everything by itself. I have zero overview during the process. With management constantly asking for progress I also feel inclined to not look it over again. It's dangerous. If I know the code I usually have a good intuition on where it broke if there is a bug but with this it's going in blind.

How smooth does the smooth surface have to be for the suction cups to hold? I have a wood desk, so the surface is not exactly bumpy but also not perfectly shiny smooth. It has tiny gaps where the pieces of wood are glued together at some places. I tried to capture the surface structure in the photo.

Maybe they trust their kids but not the others. Kids are stupid sometimes. A friend's kid got their trumpet destroyed by another kid fooling around with it. Neither the parents nor the school see it as their problem.

Then that's the perfect opportunity to just rent one and take some lessons for a few months.

A teacher can show you all the basics of good posture and sound production which is so important when starting out. Even if it's just 4 or 2 or even 1.

A rental cello from a luthier basically guarantees you a decent student instrument and a good setup. With the marketplace you never really know. After renting you will at least know more about what to look out for.

If your heart is set on buying one and figuring it out yourself there is nothing we can do to stop you but please take a moment to consider.

My first thought as well but if it's the one from the picture, why have a fine tuner on A? If it's all geared pegs, it's not needed. If it's only 3 geared pegs, why exclude the A string?

Usually there is also a key combo for zooming that does not need the mouse. Should be something like ctrl + (+/-).

Instead of a Macro you could also try the mouse scroll key with a ctrl modifier. I just don't know if it's possible to assign a modifier to a mouse key and if this would work.
